My dad has went to two neurologist. One referring him to the other for more test. The last test being a muscle biopsy. They both then gave him the diagnosis of ALS. My brother/sister then decided to take him to Dallas to see a ALS specialist. He went Tuesday and the doctor spent from 12:30- 8:00 running numerous tests including for the first time a brain scan. He said even though my dad has many symptoms of ALS he is not ready to give my dad that diagnosis without ruling out some other diseases that mimic it. He says he will know the results in two weeks. I am here in my dad's home town nervous and worried sick because I haven't seen him since Memorial weekend. The longest in my life I have ever went without seeing him was 10 days. His voice was very garbled last night when he called which made me cry after I hung up. Kim

Try to be strong for your father. I too have been diagnosed with ALS and I have a daughter........she too is worried about me. You are not alone....and all of us here I am sure are hopeful that your father gets a diagnosis of a treatable disease and not ALS.......wishing you and your family lots of strength during this most difficult of times.......cheers....fp

it's good that the dr is being very thorough! it's best to rule out everything else it could possily be.

Kim so sorry about your dad's diagnosed, hopefully you will have more answers soon. Tha waiting is so hard. Do not woorry he sounds in good hands. I know iy is scarey, try ans stay strong for him, my son did for me and keeps me in place. {{HUG}} Welcome to our forum family, hope they do find somethinfle treatable.

Thanks to everyone for responding to my posts and the words of encouragement. My husband tries to be as understanding as possible but he doesn't really understand what were going through. I'm doing better. Think I just needed a good cry. May God bless each one of you. Kim
