Some of the most moving stories I’ve read
Are guaranteed to turn any man’s head
These are from those folk who are dying
Without a soul praying for them or even crying
From the elderly lady who needs a caring hand
Not for herself but her husband, understand
As also the numerous folk deciding in life
Whether to live on and tolerate the strife
These are every day folk just like me and you
Life ripped apart by a deadly disease its true
It just waltzes into a life takes total control
Takes away everything regardless your goal
It will stop you eating and stop you talking too
Stop you from walking and using arms its true
It will make you a cabbage, dependent it seems
As it pushes you to the limit of any extremes
It will make you wish to end life, bring on death
As you lie there fighting, yes gasping for breath
You end up fed through a tube into your tummy
No ravishing delights that make you think yummy
You’ll end up the same, just too simply use the loo
But unable to walk or stand, what else would you do
Forget using your hands, as every nerve ends shot
Making that literally impossible, believe it or not
You can’t lift a spoon or a cup up to your mouth
Not without the contents heading east west or south
You’ll badly need care assistants to look after you
Literally doing numerous things that you used to do
It takes every nerve end within your literal body
Closes each one up and leaves you looking shoddy
It even gives the equivalent of whiplash as it seems
Takes over a life rapidly and steals all of your dreams
ALS as MND need every penny yes this is indeed true
Not to help me personally for its too late, but not for you
They need every penny of the cash to find a cure
Say the cash is for research this will work I’m sure
I know we all hear of causes, charities that run amok
The numerous in the news that really truly shock
But you can stipulate how, where your cash is spent
And it will go where you direct, if you are well meant
I’m not asking for a penny or cent not for myself at all
But I’m asking you to prevent another life from a fall
No one knows when this will strike any one or another
It could easily hit your Father Mother Sister or Brother
