NotALS! I sent you an email but decided to make a public post also. I had the diaphgram pacer surgery in June, 2011. I have had tremendous improvement in breathing. No so much in anything else, but no suprise as pacer is aimed only at breathing. I can actially say that my breathing is better than nine months ago. Most days I feel better. Surgery is really minor and I got peg at same time. This is new and mostly uncharted territory, but for me it was the right decision. Would be glad to share my limited knowledge with interested Pals. Have had
ALS for over two years and go to Duke University clinic. Great team. It is temporary, but it sure seems that, that " temporary" is a better quality of life. I will not get trach, but I want the best quality of like till that time. If it gets really bad, just don't continue to connect pacer and from what I understand the diaphgram goes quickly.
