Can you afford an attorney to plead for decency? How can they be so inhumane!

This is a tough one. I dont want to offend... but may i ask what he was in jail for? was it jail or prison? theres a big difference. how long was he supposed to be in for?

Thank you for the reply but I prefer not to discuss the specifics of his crime because frankly they are not important, the real ethical question here is do we agree as a society that all inmates receive poor health-care or not and should we provide any compassion for end of life suffering or not. I mean maybe there should be no pity, maybe as a society we have lost that capacity. Just throwing the question out as I said in my post he is well past eligibility for parole but was denied due to dementia. The ALS specialist said the dementia is from the ALS.

That's a tough one. I would also like to know why he is there. It's hard to give compassion if he like raped a little girl or killed somebodies grandmother? I was a cops daughter, so it is in my blood to want to know, like donuts are in my bloodline. It seems like a call to the media or governor might help. But why are you keeping his conviction a secret. If you want help, we need all the facts, not the watered down, i rather not say story. How can we help with that?

I need to add my two cents to this. You're in canada so I do not know of your laws or medical care for prisoners. I do believe you have socialized medicine. Well in the u s you lose all rights if you have been convicted of a felony. So I believe that means no social security etc. Now a few years ago I had to have a specialized mri that this machine was brand new and only one in the state. I was paying 5 thousand dollars and who is walking the other way in shackles but a prisoner who is getting free health care. He goes to jail and doesn't pay a bill and I'm paying his and mine. That's not fair.

I have actually thought about writing bad checks so I can go and get free medical. My chair is going to cost 30 thousand and I don't have medicare I am private insurance and self pay. I don't work as my disease has me now with all 4 limbs paralyzed and I also stayed home to raise my children while my husband works as a teacher. Were poor but honest

Now I don't believe anyone should be tortured but like tammy mentioned above if he was convicted of a horrific crime then to me it goes back to the old testament an eye for an eye. If it wasn't horrific then he should be kept comfortable.

Our prisoners are coddled and sometimes I feel the victims families should be able to choose their punishment with guidelines. Maybe I'm hard nosed but its what I believe and you asked

So maybe that was more like a quarters worth and sorry if you don't get the answers you were hoping for

what actually is socialized medicine, sorry but I never heard of that.

My home country of germany calls it that and here in th u s we call it that. Iwill have to work on that explanation tomorrow as my morphine has kicked in. That's why I had to edit I lost half of my post. I use a mobile device and speak the words. That's why hardly any caps or punctuations. Has become too hard

Look don't get me wrong I apreciate the time you took to write but I realize that I should not have been open about this in the first place because it just opens it up to every one wanting to have a go. I had thought this forum was a place where I could get some help with ALS not more judgement. Its not up to me to tell someone else's business all over the internet but to be ragged on like this in an ALS help forum is a little upsetting. So sorry for the post and I have removed so as not to upset anyone.

Thanks for your time to respond, my fault as I was wanting help with ALS and I mistakenly posted in the prisoner bashing forum. I say lets Kill them all instead of all this wasted money on prisons. If we just shot everyone of them wouldn`t the world be a much nicer place!
