CAN YOU TELL US WHEN DID YOUR SYMPTOMS START AND WHAT WAS THE FIRST SIGNS?AND AT WHAT AGE DID IT START?

WHAT DID THEY DO TO DIAGNOSED YOU? :?:

My Diagnosis...

My symptoms started Jan/Feb 2002 with cramping in my right hand.

Thing got worse (having problems opening doors, writing, etc...) in May 2002 and went to my family doctor. She sent me for Xrays and to a neurologist.

July 2002...Had an EMG, MRI, and bloodwork done.

August 16th 2002...I received my final diagnosis.

I just celebrated my 40th birthday (May) in Las Vegas with 34 friends.

I went to the Calgary ALS Clinic last Wednesday for my 3 month checkup.
My vital lung capacity is 107% (up from 79% in July...I had just recovered from pnemonia).
My bloodwork is normal (O2 normal - CO2 up 2 pts, but normal)
The Occupational Therapist was very happy with my strength and flexibility.
Legs are fine for around the house. I'm movin' slower...but I'm movin' nonetheless.
My arms are weaker, and I require help eating, showering, dressing, but I can still use the 'puter (obviously).
Physio does really help alot.
I'm pretty happy, when after 2+ years, I was still able to walk in to the clinic.
I won't be running any marathons anytime soon, but I do feel good.

:D
