Way too early in the diagnosis process to know what we're dealing with, but the only condition that appears to fit the symptoms is ALS. Except for on top of the physical symptoms, also seem to have deteriorating cognitive impairment. Anybody else dealing with this as well, or are we looking in the wrong place?

I think a little more information is required? A heap of conditions are similar to ALS especially in the early stages. Cognitive impairment can be a part of ALS for some people, but you will really need to give some information if you are seeking some advice.

Depending on whose research you read, cognitive impairment is found in somewhere between 10 and 50 percent of ALS cases. Sometimes minor, sometimes extreme. Aly is right, there's nothing in your post that would help us answer the question. What kinds of behaviors? Depression, behavioral issues?
