When do you take Rilutek/Riluzole?

My doc says to take it twice a day but 30 minutes BEFORE I eat! Is that right?

Says if I take it with or after a meal it won't have any effect.

I'm in Thailand and had to pay 50000baht for 2 months pills...about GBP1000 or US$1600.

We live in Malaysia and pay about £400 for a months supply...special discount from our local chemist!

My husband takes his Rilutek 2 hours AFTER food and one hour BEFORE food...each morning at 8.30 am on an emply stomach, then breakfast an hour later. At night he takes his Rilutek at 8pm, having had a snack at 6pm then dinner at 9pm. We normally eat late!

I'm in uk and take it twice a day, one In a morning and one at night. I e taken them with food, empty stomach and after quite a few drinks! My specialist said nothing about specific times, just happy if I took as I've said, one morning one night.

My dad was on Riuletek and he was advised to take it either 1 hour before meals or 2 hours after eating. The reasoning for this, we were told by his specialist was that it has to with the absorption of the drug and it is much better absorbed through an empty stomach.

If I had to pay full price out of pocket...I wouldn't take them. Just my opinion.

I also was told the rule, two hours after eating and one hour before. I take it in the afternoon at 5, and in the early morning whenever I get up to go to the bathroom. One tip I was told is to drink quite a bit of water with it to help prevent nausea.
