Just wanted to let you know how the B-12 shots were reacting for me. My family doc said he thought they may help with my energy levels, "some". Seems to help. I take a 1cc shot of B-12 self administrated or wife does it every 3 days. It seems to perk me up for about a day and a half. Now I do not mean I'm ready for the races or anything, just seems to boost me to where I can function a little better.
The downside, is the shots burn. I guess a little burning may be worth it though if I have more energy. May not work for everyone, just another idea to help.

I had my blood checked before the tests and it showed normal levels of B-12, so I really did not need the shots, but Doc said give them a try anyway to see what happened. Probably would get more energy if I lost some of this excess weight.

Been out of town for past few days got to try out my new motorized wheelchair. Stayed in it for 3 days all day and did real well. Had one security guard threaten to give me a speeding ticket, really. Hey might as well have fun somehow.
Anyways I'm back to bug you if you need me too. How's things going AL?

Hey are those wheelchairs suppose to bounce up in the air a foot every time you cross the rr tracks or hit a bump? Thought the thing was taking off a few times there. Kinda scared me. Hey if it fell off the lift in the middle of nowhere what am I going to do with a 350 pound wheelchair? Wife said drive it back home, was only 250 miles away, boy wouldn't that be a sight. Especially in the rain.

Hope everyone has a great week and as usual God Bless.

Hey Big AL. Things aren't going too bad here . Was away at a cottage from Thur. until Monday and came back with a flu bug or something. Feeling better today. Wife's family reunion weekend and had to sit on the dock sipping cold ones and watch the great nieces and nephews water ski ,tube and generally have a good time. Thought about going in the tube but didn't want to hurt myself. Ha Ha. We rented the cottage next door to Lee's parents cottage and there is about 35 stairs down to the cottage from the driveway. Needless to say I only went up and down once per day when needed. I think I know how those guys feel when they get to the top of Mount Everest. The last time up I was never so glad to see the top of a hill in my life.
Hope you're wearing your seatbelt with that new chair. I don't want to hear about you doing a face plant off it. Have a good one. AL.

Dangerous Wheelchairs

Your right AL about watching out for those wheelchairs. I was using the chair to walk my puppy when she suddenly changed directions and just about spun my head around backwards. Thought I was in the exorcist for awhile there.
Watch out for those stairs too, they are sort of like lawnmowers, hehe.....
God bless and drink a cold one for me,
Big AL

Hey Big AL.Well had a new experience today. Went to a friends for a North Carolina style pig roast. As you may remember I've said before it's easier to drop drawers and sit to pee. Well went into bathroom and locked door because with about 60 people there didn't want to be caught with pants down. Well tried to stand and for first time couldn't get up which is not the same as couldn't get it up. Tried everything and was starting to get a bit panicky and had to turn on seat and grab side of tub and push down on seat with other hand to get up. Managed to get up and next time had wife outside door and she had to come in and help me up. Not a great day as far as bathroom goes but pig roast was great and met a lot of nice people.
When I got home I was able to use our bathroom ok because there is a counter next to it and can put left arm on it to push up. This is not the handicapped bathroom we had put in but it still works.
Just wanted to let others know that we're all in this together and maybe you might have to turn and grab the tub some day and you'll remember what I did and it might work for you.
That's what we're about here. Helping and telling what works for us. We need ideas and tips to get through this. Take care and happy bathrooming. AL.

Toilet training for the elderly

Got your attention huh? Good point AL. I had one of the tall handicapped toilets put in long before I needed it with the rails and all. Glad I did. But a while back went to a casino with my wife, this was before I was in wheelchair all the time, and of course had to go to restroom, to take a rest, haha... Did not go in handicapped stall for some dumb reason and after taking care of business, could not get up off the seat.

Funny sometimes how we don't plan ahead. I tried everything, even thought of calling for help, but figured I'd scare the heck out of whoever looked in on me....believe me it's not pretty.....sorry get that picture out of your mind if possible.
Anyway grabbed walls of stall and toilet holder and rocked and rolled until I made it out of there. If anyone was outside listening they probably thought I was being attacked by a bear or something.

I hope somebody can learn for our mistakes, before they embarrass themselves.

Have a great weekend AL.
God Bless,
Big AL:)
