Would a few needles on EMG be sufficient enough?

Hi all.......

I had a emg (if you call it that. I think the Dr used 2 needles)?

I cant move my toe.............Im so worried! :-( Having a hard time sleeping, eating, ect.

Thanks

If you have a effected area, It is the most likely place to look. I have bulbar. My emg was clean except in the bulbar region.

hi there when i went to the nurelogist i was poked over 26 times i had activity going on troughout my whole body.the worse was in the bulbar area which i have.i had another opionion done from another nuro and it came back the same i would get another opinion to rule out what is really going on

firsst neuro just id a couple and was most unhelpful
At the ALS specialist place they did dozens nd dozens all over the place from tongue to feet including back and front; that had to get a complete result.

Silverlining, here we go again. Phil, Jeff and Irismarie this is the person that was posting this on the dreaded "Do I have ALS" thread and has now infiltrated this thread. What is next? The Caregivers or the PALS threads? see this thread from March https://www.alsforums.com/forum/do-...-i-hadnt-upper-lower-weakness.html#post114927 or just go and check her profile and look at the statistics. Silverlining, your repeated posts about YOUR TOE are making the MONKEY'S very crabby!

Phil, Jeff & Iris,

Thank you for replying to my post. I appreciate that you have taken the time. Yes, I did post awhile back as indigos pointed out rather rudely. I am a single mom, very worried because I dont know the cause. Surely you can understand my posts. Im only trying to hear others experiences on ALS. I never want to hurt anyone.

Indigos..........

I HAVE NEVER MET someone so INHUMAN. You are a NASTY woman! You never know what a person is going through & you should keep your mouth closed if you have nothing nice to say.
I have read so many of your posts, telling people that you are mad & about your pathetic monkeys. I think your monkeys are way too far up your a**! Stick your head up & pull em out!

God have peace on your soul.

There is really no need for this. Silverlining, if you are concerned that the EMG procedure was not correct you can always ask for the second opinion. Any reputable neuro will accept this and be happy to refer you on. My partner had 2 EMG, the second one was more extensive and involved testing in several body parts. The first one was conducted only in the affected area (arm).

Silverlining, I truly think that you need to get a second opion fron a neurologist (my PAL had two EMGs the first was very limited and the second was extensive it took the second one for the correct diagnosis), so instead of asking the forum for a second opion with another post. Take your fears and your care into your own hands and find the answers you seek from the professionals, not the forum. I hope for you peace and clarity.

God Bless

Silverlining,
This is what I think,
1. You need to stay in the "Do I have ALS" thread IF you are not banned from the forum due to your repeated episodes of hostility, name calling and repeated postings in various threads asking the same questions ad nauseum.
2. It is obvious that you have an obession with ALS. Someone with an OBSESSION about ALS wastes our time and energy.
3. Name calling is very ignorant and immature.
4. It is obvious that you are in need of help but that help is beyond what the forum can offer.
5. Obviously since you are a single mother your testing for ALS is being covered under the taxes that we pay for Medicaid. Medicaid will also pay for a Mental Health evaluation.
6. I sincerely hope that all of your wishing for a ALS diagnosed will not give you the agony of the diagnosed.
7. Get out there and pursue an education, a career, get a job so that you can take care of yourself and your children and enjoy your life.

Heres what I think,

1)You have too many monkeys up your A**.

2) 3 people Pm'ed me to say THANK YOU for putting that nasty woman in her place.

3) I am a Paralegal (soon to be an attorney in NYC) But you living in RURAL I can assure you, its not YOUR taxes paying for anything but beer.

Id rather be a worrier with a good heart, then a non worrying Cold hearted, insensitive human/ (feel free to use your monkey imagination & stick another word in here).

It amazes me that if I had the very unfortunate experience of having a partner with ALS, Id have NO time to go around Downgrading concerned people. I guess God can only do his best to show you the "light". Some wake up, some dont. What goes around, comes around...........Karma, sweatheart, Be careful!

AGAIN, GOD have Peace on your soul. Im truly praying for you.

Dont respond, you're not worth the effort.

"My monkeys are getting Crabby"

Forgive me, I am just an oridinary 70 year old but I have seen some things in my day.

(Indigosed), why the hasty attitude toward sliverlining? I am sorry if this seems out of line but you really have no bussiness intruding upon his/her concern with such comments.

You clearly tryed to pursuay others into jumping down her throat for being concerned of her health? I have attended Church for 40 years & we are taught to treat ALL people with kindness, regardless. If her continued post tweeks you & your monkeys, so let it be. This person & those like him/her are the very people God wants us to give Extra care to.

Im disapointed at your first response but Im discusted at your 2nd response.

Respectfully,

SilverLining,

Im not aware of your situation but keep your good faith. Pray for this woman. She obviously needs it.
Remember this life is just a brief journey. Continue to be kind. It will serve you in your next journey!

I do hope & pray that you will be ok. My heart goes out to you that you are a single mom with so much on your plate.

Please ignore all 7 hateful comments by the individual. There are good & bad apples. You are right, leave it to God. He sees our true colors. So sorry you are hurting & then got dumped on here. Try another forum. Stay strong!

Respectfully

IDIG,

SHAME ON YOU! How do you sleep at night?

Let's put this to rest

If an area is EMG'd that has clear lower motor neuron symptoms . . . and that EMG is clean . . . there is no need to go any further. Therefore, yes, a few needles could very well be enough to draw a conclusion.

Sometimes a more extensive EMG is needed and that is determined by the clinical exam. Obviously there was nothing about your clinical exam that caused your neuro to think that any more electrophysiological evaluation was necessary.

The fork has now been inserted and the fat lady is singing. Let us please be done with this.

This is so confusing. Some post must have been deleted. I don't see the name calling, and whats up with the monkey comment?
Silverlining...it almost sounds like you want it to be ALS? Please, for your own sanity...try to be positive. I didn't even Google ALS until 6 months after DX. I knew it was bad, and that was good enough for the time. I had no interest in knowing the details until I got over the initial shock. I'm glad I did that. I could have easily got overwhelmed, and I think a lot of pals do overload themselves.
It is so important to remain positive, and not create so much unnecessary stress. the positive attitudes here is what makes this such a good forum. Lets not loose that please! God bless you all!
