What do Doctors think about Healthcare reform? I haven't heard much out of the Doctors...

I think a lot of doctors are making plans to retire or move their practices to other countries. This is what I've "heard" on talk radio for what its worth! LOL

Well, Most are surely not fond of it... I agree with them... Enough social programs... They never work and will never work.... Both sides agree with the pre-exsisting condition clause, but after that, well...

I don't understand where you get that idea?
Our system works very well, you don't hear Canadians complaining about our system like you guys do yours.

There are a lot of wrong assumptions being made.

Joel,
Your system and Country, is just so much different than USA. I believe in Canada's system entirely.. You just cannot imagine how poorly the Government systems work in the USA.. We have way to many people on Govt. programs, and we are becoming very anti-Capitalist .. I am a Fiscal Conservative, and in the USA. We unfortunately have a different citizen level of care and concern. I may feel different than many on the forum, but I am sure so many would agree with this. If I was Canadian I am sure I would like your system.
The USA is becoming a Country that is almost unrecognizable than it once was.

I am always amused that some people think our two countries are very different. Having lived in both counties I did not experience any differences. I think if you really researched it you would find very little difference. Obama is proposing a medical system like ours and that would benefit everyone in your country. Why do you think it would not?

Our Doctor visits, Specialists, Hospital stays, Operations, etc. are all covered at no personal cost. How can this be bad?

I am certainly not trying be argumentative, just try to explain our system as I feel there is a lot of confusion and concern it is a bad thing for the US.

Joel,
Please know that I totally agree with what you said, and I am sorry I sound so down on the going's on here. I am just one of the people not in favor of the present Adminstrations plans. We are in a Place were one party is in complete power and that is never a good idea. I am seeing an apathy among so many of our citizens that I have never seen before. I am worried that a Moral decline is really hitting us hard in the USA.. I am a very active political citizen and get frustrated with the general apathy and uncaring of so many. We have way to many people who have not given anything, looking for everything.. Okay off my soap-box.

Joel~ I am so glad you have posted these replies. I have always been under the impression health care such as "obama care" would absolutely break this country's back. I am certainly ready to research these alternatives.

Regarding Phil M's original question, we have spoken to several Dr's and pharmacists in this part of the country and have not received a positive response from them re: the proposed changes. In fact, we are losing doctors by the handful in our part of the country already.

Joel,
I will say that Obama's plan is not a 0 cost to many. We are small business owners, not free for us, not free for any of my relatives. I am not questioning you but the US is very different in many ways.. Our population base has many many illegal immigrants, and I am sorry I do not agree with the fact we pay for all services for them..

Joel,
I know that you are trying to be helful and kind, and I apologize for seeming to have strong opinions on this. I admit that I do, and I do not have any strong opinions from helpful and educated opinions like yourself, you are not ever the people I have issue with. I just have been very disillusioned with so many people not caring, not giving, and just receiving. So many fine people are not helped, so many ALS patients, family members ect.. This Country is in a very truley concerning time.

Just for further explaination about our system.

If you make above what they consider poverty level, which is about $30,000.00 per year for a family, total medical coverage for your family is $96.00 per month. If your income is less than that medical coverage is free. I don't pay anything for my medical coverage.

We have to pay for prescriptions, but again, if your income is low you don't pay anything. And, everyone has a limit and after that medication is covered. A lot of people purchase extended medical coverage that pays for all medication, dental, etc. This additional coverage also pays for things like power wheelchairs, etc.

I did not have extended medical so the ALS Society provided these items. We also have other sources for equipment, I got my ventilators, suction machines and supplies from them at no cost.

No system is perfect but we don't have to worry about going bankrupt with medical bills.

i am not very educated in the political arena...i met my husband in the chemistry lab:) i do have some doctor friends and here is what they say.....we live in a town of about 16,000 people and have a big population of immigrants. our local docs find it very frustrating as we also get the surrounding communities medicaid (public healthcare) patients...why do we get all the system patients? because most practices in the other towns have simply stopped taking medicaid patients.

on another political note, biblical apologist ken ham just did a speech called state of the nation about america's moral decline and can be viewed at answerslive.org

sorry i guess i should have put the www in the link...i wasn't trying to pass by the moderators for link approval.

Joel,
I am totally in favor of a system that help's people like you and your family. For that matter any of the Canadian member's I have ever met. I appreciate you explanation, and would be totally on board if our citizen's would step up more. I often think that the Canadian's in general could teach many of us a thing or two. I think that my main complaint yet again the decline of the moral values that I was brought up on.. We seem to be turning into to much of a gray society.. I know this post started out with the question of do the doctor's like the Obama plan, and I think the overwhelming answer is NO..
Joel, you are such a kind man, and you are only trying to show me the positive of things. And for this I am grateful. Thanks for your help.. You are a doll.
