As I've mentioned before in other posts my husband had Cancer of the Larynx, but as since been cleared. Last week the E.N.T. doctor said he had radiation damage. He was diagnosed. end of September with P.B.P/A.L.S. He now feels very tired, tongue is like having a cake in his mouth and yesterday said the roof of his mouth hurt. Anyone else had the latter?

Best to all, Cherry.

Cherry?

Does the E.N.T. and neurologist agree with the two diagnoses, i.e., that your husband has PBP/ALS and Radiation Therapy Injury concurrently?

You mentioned Rad Therapy Inury to the larynx only. Does the ENT imply that the radiation therapy injured his spinal column directly or is it bystander effects known to occur in distant sites after radiation therapy?

Your husband's dual diagnosis may be a key to understanding the cause of ALS.

Thanks for the info.

Donna

Cherry-- Can you explain the symptom of his tongue feeling like he has cake in his mouth? I would expect that someone who has had radiation therapy may well be experiencing a dry mouth due to reduced output from the salivary glands. Just a guess.
