Default How fast can the symptoms come on?

I'm 43, male and I've been freaked out for about 10 days now with some scary symptoms.

It started suddenly with a whole body awkwardness that come on literally overnight about 10 days ago. It felt like ordinary things like walking, talking, using my hands to do simple things like tying my shoes, playing the guitar, etc were being done by remote control or something. I also have this vague since of fogginess where I'm almost dizzy and kind of unfocused but not so much so that I'm unable to function. I've also developed cramps in my right leg which has been more on than off for about 4 days now. I'm also experiencing twitching sporadically all over my body. This is not a constant thing but comes and goes in waves and will be randomly jumping around my body then, nothing, then, it may come back again again in different places. One place where this seems to be more often is in the crux of my right hand. I've had some mumble mouth where I've sensed that I was not speaking clearly and also seem to have to think more about chewing and swallowing than ever before. I've even had a few occasions where my lips felt a bit numb/tingling.

I've been taking a generic Ambian for a few months and have been on Tricor for a few years and just a few weeks ago was switched to Tripliex. ( I was told that Tripliex doesn't cause these type of symptoms) I've stopped taking all medication now. I stopped the Ambian 4 days ago and I stopped the Triplix about 9 days ago.

These symptoms come and go to a degree, some days, I'm pretty good and others I sense it more. I've not noticed any atrophy, drop foot, or real noticeable strength issues. I've been to the gym a few times and I'm pushing the same weights, treadmill, etc.

I went to my family doc one week ago, he did some basic nuro tests and took blood. He sent me for a head MRI. Yesterday he called and said everything was fine. Nothing to worry about. It may be an inner ear problem he said.

My questions is, from what I've seen, ALS symptoms can be extremely varied, so, can this be ALS? Can it come on so fast (from nothing to everywhere overnight) and in so many places at once?

I'm freaked out and scared.

Any input would be welcomed.

Thank you,

Try to relax. ALS does not come on like that. You can safely put it out of your mind. It is something else that is causing your symptoms.
