Default Any connection between swollen lymph node and ALS?

I have been experiencing ALS-like symptoms for several months. This concerns me because I had a great-aunt (grandma's sister) that passed away from ALS. My symptoms include uncontrolable shaking and weakness in my left arm and shoulder, aching in my elbows, decreased ability to grasp with my hands, tripping over my own feet, fatigue, some difficulty in swallowing, strange sensations in my throat, and unexplained weightloss. I have not seen a doctor yet about these symptoms. However, about 9 months ago I developed a swollen lymph node under the left side of my jaw. When the swelling did not decrease after about 4 months I saw the doctor about it. I had an ultrasound done and was diagnosed with a reactive lymph node. The doctor said that the lymph node was reacting to something in the vacinity of the lymph node. So the doctor told me to have my teeth checked out. I went to the dentist and he found nothing wrong but refered my to an oral surgeon for a second opinion. The oral surgeon found nothing wrong and refered my to an Ear, Nose, Throat specialist. I have not seen the ENT specialist yet. I have been experiencing a lot of twitching and odd sensations (not pain) in the area of the swollen lymph node. I was just wondering if anyone has ever heard of a case in which a lymph node in the neck became swollen reacting to ALS complications.

I suggest you see a neurologist who specializes in ALS. Although, since the disease is incurable, there is no hurry. Unlike with most cancers, early detection doesn't extend lifespan. On the other hand, if you are going to worry about it, definitely make an appointment sooner rather than later. If you don't have insurance, sometimes the local MDA can provide pointers that may be helpful.

I doubt your symptoms are related to ALS, but strongly suggest to see a specialist to biopsy(or any other diagnostic procedures) for your swolen nodes. Your symptoms could be related to so called paraneoplastic syndrome.
Good luck.
