Hello, can anyone please recommend a neurologist specializing in neuromuscular disease at a hospital in Boston, Mass.? I would like to get a second opinion this fall for the muscle weakness, pain, and muscle atrophy that I am experiencing, as well as random twitching, mostly around my lips. I had some twitching before in hands, legs, and butt, but that has subsided. I had a clean EMG of three limbs in June at a local university hospital.

one thing that has me concerned about ALS again: I have sensed a bit of breathlessness while talking lately--- I am not sure if this is related to everything else, or if it might be related to the extreme humidity we are having right now in the northeast. neuro wants to see me in six months from my last appointment to see if things progressed, or before then, if anything has dramatically worsened. I think I should seek a second opinion.

any suggestions?

thanks,

Sandra

i will get back to you have to get name from son his is the 31 ,he was told the doc is very good all i know for the moment is that it is at brighams and womans ,i was also told they have a team of doc for meetings when a doctor can not find an answer for a patient (like on house ) and it is one of the few hopsitals in usa that do this be back as soon as i can, the name my niece say when she checked around she is a nurse in boston for billy is dr.brown she said he was the best but my son already had an appt with another one thier . so, i wont have to get backas i just called her for info

thier both good another good one in mass general is dr.black been check on the docs to see who is best

I never knew there was an als clinic at the Mass General. My father in law is getting nowhere with his doctors down in Florida and is thinking of coming up here because we keep telling him Boston hospitals are among the best in the country. I was thinking Brigham myself, as that's the only hospital where I'll let anyone touch me....I was born there before it was even called the Brigham, and had both my thyroid and gallbladder out there. I won't go anywhere else, the nursing staff is wonderful. But als specialists at Mass General might be a better idea.

His emg and other nerve tests have supposedly ruled out als at this point, but SOMETHING is going on. He's been totally numb in one leg since before the beginning of the year, and no one can figure out why. His doctors down south told him he doesn't have als, but there's a strong family history of it so naturally it's always a lingering fear.

yes they are both good , gonna be hard to choose i also knew it as womans lying-in probley spelled wrong my kids were born there i myself perfer brighams and womans hospital because of the team they call in when they cant find out what is wrong themself, and i did not care for the thyroid clnic at m.g.h. it sounded so good i was unhappy with the results of how the doctor listen to what i had to say, told him i am allergic to t4 he actually said i dont think so never heard of such a thing needless to say i never went back , but what ever you do best of luck and hope is is not als

woops look like i messed up witch doctor is at what hospital as dr . brown is at m.g.h. so, dr.black must be at brighmans and womans but at least the top dr. names are right sorry but for some reason my dyslexa has been kicking in latley
