OK,

Original neuro dismissed me and after the EMG said that it was all normal.

Two weeks later, my left arm was getting weaker in addition to the twitches, cramps, tremors, and stiffness. Went to a neuromuscalar specialist who conducted the EMG on Monday and said that it was abnormal in my forearm and tricep. He said that I'm pretty such it's a pinch nerve at this point that is causing your weakness. Fast forward to today when I went to the gym, I couldn't lift nearly as much with my right arm (it was very sore afterwards).

On my MRI, there is degenerative damage on the C6-C7 side.

I don't know what to do anymore. I'm pretty much getting ready to accept the ALS diagnosis at this point since the symptoms have progressed to my other arm.

I'm only 26.

Please don't jump to any conclusions. Pinched nerves in that area could definitely be causing your problems. You are too young to be worried about ALS. Go see your doctor again about the pinched nerves.

Hi ama,

I read your case. Did your EMG came out really bad. What was the extend of damage in the arm. Your dotor must have told you to take madicine and do phisios. If the treatment is not for ALS your doctor has already concluded some other problem. What make you think you doc is wrong?

I think my doctor is wrong because two days after the EMG, my other arm experienced weakness when I went to the gym (I couldn't lift as much and the arm was very sore). I also have experienced leg weakness and shortness of breath in the morning. I also have muscle twitches and cramps in my whole body in addition to having excess phlegm. I just have too many symptoms for it to just be a pinched nerve at this point.

My EMG is also abnormal.

Accept WHAT als diagnosis? There has been no als diagnosis if I'm remembering correc
You need to get a grip and concentrate on getting a fixable issue looked at.

We had a dirty emg in the lumbosacral and paraspinal muscles, widespread fasciculations, weakness and atrophy that progressed to near paralysis and a firm als diagnosis...guess what...HERNIATED DISK in the thoracic region.

You've been reading my story and know that the disc/pinched nerve combined with your stress can cause ALL of your symptoms. GET FIXED and don't you dare settle on als when you have other stuff going on.

My husband focused on the Winston Churchill quote "Never, never, never give up"

It sounds like the specialists diagnosed you with a pinched nerve, not ALS. Correct me if I've missed something here but the only diagnosis you've been given to accept is that of a pinched nerve.

There are many on this forum that would gladly trade their ALS diagnosis for that of a pinched nerve diagnosis.

Well I would never go to a doctor if I have not to trust him/her. If you doubt your doc , consult second one but do not make your own diagonsis. So many people including some who have been diagonosed, feel that it is your pinched nerve but you seem to hold to your own conclusion. Don't do this to yourself.

My suggestion is don't go to the gym and your arm won't get sore, or at least take it easy. But then I don't know anything about gyms and have always been content to be a 98 pound weakling so take my advice for what it's worth.:)

Barry brings out a good point. If your arm hurts while at and then after gymn visits, I'd stay away from them as well. I tend to keep my distance from anything that causes pain. Its a natural tendency of mine.
