I havel also troaght problems, but have MRI normal and EMG normal, despite i complain about one leg and ncv was done to the other leg...and still going to gym does this sound like ALS?

Chewing gum kind of helps... not tottaly but it helps

Thanks to all

Sorry for doing too much questions.

. . . and just when I thought I had seen it all.

For the hundredth time, Everlast . . . no, your story doesn't point toward ALS, which is precisely the reason your neuro (you know, the specialist that actually EVALUATED YOU) told you the exact same thing. Plus, as far as I know, chewing gum isn't a treatment for ALS . . . so if it's helping your symptoms . . . I'd say that's another reason YOU DON'T HAVE ALS and by all means, keep chewing your gum. Would you PLEEEEEEEEEEEEASE RELAX!

Those things give me flashbacks to Texas Chainsaw Massacre and the 2nd Silence of the Lambs.

Skinless chicken - great. Skinless tomato - awesome. Skinless human - ugh.

Isn't there something about being able to chew gum and type at the same time that points away from ALS?

Don't know if it's emotional lability or not but I laffed like a loon when I saw that picture. This guy is freakin hilarious. You are just screwin with us, right Everlast?

AL.

Al, I didn't want to admit it on here but I also laughed out loud. I think it's Wright's response that made it all the funnier.

I honestly have not been following Everlast's posts. And, yes, "Mr Anatomical" was a surprise to see (~ Wright LOL)

Everlast, if you're asking if your symptoms sound like ALS, apparently you've already had this conversation here before, and its been asked and answered more than a few times (and like Barry pointed out in another thread, this is a support forum, not diagnostic forum)

I would like to make a couple of observations. First, that had to be a lot of work making this graphic up for us. Second, if anything, chewing gum is more likely to make things worse for someone who has ALS (I don't know, don't chew gum, like at all) But, even eating sometimes triggers jaw spasms for me, so I'm thinking gum would not improve how someone feels.

Chewing gum could help as a release for anxiety, or possibly help if there were digestion problems such as reflux and reflux could cause pain there where you have that big red area in the chest highlighted.

Have you been to a rheumatologist? Might be a specialty that could help you.

How about crossing motor neuron disease off of your list and moving on to other causes?

good luck :)

Well, for starters, this guy has no skin..............

Seriously, I laughed so hard I soaked the front of my shirt with drool.

Hang in there Everlast... I pray that God will give you wisdom in your situation...

Not only skin ... but you're missing some other parts too. Maybe it's just my blurred vision, but I'd check with a urologist.

Seriously, you're probably doing too much at the gym trying to get your body like this man's. Do more gum chewing and get more circulation to your brain. You have to have a diagnosis of ALS to begin being paranoid about having it. Wow, he's quite a man but he's missing something.

I'm just relieved there isn't a big yellow spot there!

Ya , its not yellow , but its a greenish blue.
Is it a fungus ?
flesh-eating jock-itch ?
Are you playing in the gym shower too much?

Everlast,

Yes , everyone is making fun of you.
All of those symptom indicated above can be caused by a sinus infection and a good workout.
Just say "F**K IT" and move on with your life. You do not have ALS.

An honest question

Hi All,

I hope I'm not stepping out of line and granted I don't have ALS, but my wife did and I was her caregiver for 4 years. I have seen firsthand how devastating this disease is.

If this man is getting on your nerves, ignore him. I realize patience can be stretched to the breaking point for PALS and CALS. If he's not truly seeking answers... ignore him. Don't lower yourselves to making fun of him. Now, if he's playing back, then I understand. But if he's not... I joined this site a few days ago and I see how much good it does people to be able to turn to a forum such as this. It helps ME! I don't know how other "former" caregivers are after the loss of their loved one, but it's been almost 3 years for me and it's a true gift I have found in you people just the short time I've been here. But what about that new member (PALS or CALS) that comes here honestly looking for answers and comes upon a post such as this. Will they think it's funny? If it helps to vent in the form of making fun of this man, it's in truly poor taste. In the four years I dealt with ALS, compassion wasn't the first thing to go.

That said, if he is a hypocondriac.... ignore him. From what I've seen, most people on this site know what ALS is and what it does and the end result thereof wihout a cure.
Please don't think I'm judging, chastising or belittling in any way. You all have enough to deal with without someone like me answering this post. All I ask is that you think about it.

God bless you,

Greg
