Hi Cody,

When I experienced this, it turned out to be a combination of lower back disc problems and bursitis. Anti-inflammatories help, have you tried taking ibuprofen at therapeutic doses? Maybe see an osteopath that deals in sports medicine, or an orthopedic doctor for some better insight.

The fact its worse when you're sitting is another sign it would be a disc problem, as there is actually more weight on the spine when sitting than when standing. like considerably more.

Hope you feel better soon.

I dont think that this pain has anything to do with als, JMO.

Maybe you do have a disc problem and that can cause your twitching? Have you had a mri on your entire spine? iF not, get one.

Good luck and I am glad to hear that you doing better!!

Sounds like back pain to me. Maybe you should go get it checked out and stop speculating as to what it is. When are you going to accept that nothing you have told us . . . NOT ONE THING . . . NADA . . . NIHIL . . . ZILCH . . . indicates you have any type of MND? That's not a rhetorical question. I and I'm sure many others on here, would really like to know.

there is an extremely more likely connection to a disc problem causing your twitching etc, than als causing it, and no, als will not cause the type of back pain you're describing, but it is CLASSIC for disc problems.

I've been there, done that. Had at one time 7 herniated discs at the same time, (4 in lower back, 3 in cervical spine) absolutely know the feeling. and I've had bursitis - at the same concurrent time. and the bursitis hurt over where you're describing....and... before you ask, this was all years and years and years before any of my current illness, which was bulbar onset, and I have no back pain now.

To diagnose the back pain you need a complete mri, and to see a specialist in that field. I went through the series of epidural shots (twice, total of 6) then had some muscle repair to my abdomen, and after the surgery my back never ever bothered me again. other than middle aged lady aches once in a while.

good luck

Well, I am more wobbly in the trunk than ever, and at my last weigh-in on Friday the nurse said I lost 4 pounds - and this on a strict chocolate-and cookies-diet, too!

See, this is a good reason why someone like me should stay off the internet. Until just now, I was thinking how luck I am to lose 4 pounds eating ice cream and fudge.
