I would like to add my two cents here- As Nikki says, this is not an anxiety disorder. Nor is it psychosomatic, factitious, hysteria, depression, mental illness, or malingering. It is a very real and involuntary condition which is life limiting and immensely distressing for those who suffer with it.

To use a computer analogy- ALS/MND is a corrupted circuit board and Functional Disorder is a programming error.
