NCV tech query

In this forum there was a discussion that ncv will be OK whereas emg is not. My query is ALS kills the nerves. If the nerves are killed how can they conduct electricity and how can the ncv be OK?

ALS kills motor neurons that transmit the signals. This does not show in the ncs only the emg
