Hi,

I have been VERY weak for the last two to three weeks. It's not just one part of my body, like my leg or arm, it's my whole body. Both my arms, legs, etc. It is hard to hold my 1 yr old nephew. I have to put him down because I am so weak. I have been having some twiching in my eye and my arm off and on now for about a month. The main thing that is concerning me is my weakness. I don't know what als weakness is, but I was wondering if this sounds like it?

Also, I am a 29 yr old female. I have had mononucleosis twice, but I don't remember ever feeling this weak. I don't know what to think.

Hi--
The only way to tell for sure if your symptoms are potentially related to a neuromuscular disease is to make an appointment with a neurologist who specializes in that field. You should call a first-rate university teaching hospital, contact the neurology department, and ask which neuromuscular specialist might carry your insurance and make an appointment.

Best,
Jeff

weakness

Reading your post - made me think of my daughter. She has fibromyalgia and you are describing a lot of what I hear her saying. She wasn't able to lift her own babies when they were small and still can't when she flares. Stress and illness can make it much worse. There are times she can't stand to be touched.

The muscles are very tired. I don't think she had/has twitching though. Fibromyalgia can start after a trauma or sickness like mono. It's like having severe pre-flu symptoms and it's very painful -- she use to cry she hurt so bad. Have you tried a rhuematologist?

Thank you Cindy,

Well actually I have had mono twice. The last time was about two years ago. I went to the doctors yesterday and I had some bloodwork done. They are looking to see if I have mono again. That would be rare I know, but who knows. I also was found to have amemia, which does cause you to be weak. Hopefully that is all it is. I get so stressed about my health. I wish I wasn't like that.

Thanks again

Carisa
