Hi! I have been numbness, weakness and pain in my left hand fingers for 7 months now so i went to the general doctor and she sent me to see a specialist for an emg of the hand at the hospital cuz she thought i had a carpal tunnel syndrome(the specialist did a test with electrodes and inserted 2 needles on each side of hand) it came back normal and he said he didnt see anything abnormal. When i came back home i googled the symptoms (shouldnt have) and i saw als and panicked. I read everywhere that if the emg is clean there is no als. so my first question is:
If als was the cause for my hand problem would it show on the emg? Or i would have to do the complete emg test cuz they only did it on my left hand and not other body parts.
And second, if the test was negative is it 100% sure its not als that causes these symptoms on my hand? Cuz i read different statements on other sites so im confused!
Thank you.
