Hey all!

Love the fact that a forum like this exists to ask questions of people with real life ALS experience! It so helps when some of us out here are scratching our heads wondering what's really going on. On the flip side...I hate that ALS exists!!!

To be brief. 49 year old male with over one year under my belt of really hard whole body 24/7 twitching. Primary sent me to Neuro who did an initial work up and ordered EMG/NCS. Clinical evaluation indicated zero weakness or atrophy. Neuro said not ALS or at least very unlikely. EMG results changed Neuro tune as they came back abnormal. Lots of 1+'s and reduced recruitment in most muscles tested. Sent on to subspecialist. NCS showed mild to moderate neuropathy. Oh...also have cervical spInal stenosis and slipping disk in lower back...

Any feedback would be appreciated...thank you!

Well to start with sir your lower back and spinal condition would have nothing to do with ALS and you have not really given any other info.

Thanks for the reply.

Totally get that the spinal stenosis and lower back issue have nothing to do with ALS. Was just putting those out there as possible reasons for abnormal EMG.

What other information would be helpful?

Thanks!

If you can post specifics. The ncs and emg report and the mri results.

btw there is something called emg disease where a healthy person has a diffusely abnormal emg. If you never had an emg before that is a possibility though it is rare.

Thanks for the reply. That was my first EMG and the doctor kept me in very uncomfortable positions which had my neck really tight. I also weightlift and really can't fully extend my elbows due to osteo but that didn't stop her from trying to press them down as hard as she could.

MRI is TBS. is there a way to attach a photo of the test results or is it manual enter?

Thanks again!

RC, at your profile you can upload a scan of the results as a jpg. Then, compose a post in this thread, remembering to use the Go Advanced button below.

Attached the results. Best I could do. Not sure if they can be read. Let me know.

Thanks
