Hi everyone,

I am worried about my father. He is 64 and began losing a sense of grip in his left hand. This started about November 2015. He would drop glasses, cups, etc. This summer, he lost the ability to write (he is left handed). He also has weakness in his left leg and has trouble walking (sort of swings his leg when he walks) and has trouble going up stairs. The leg symptoms have also been present since the summer. There is no pain or twitching. He says that on some days his leg feels better than others. This does not seem to be the case with his hand. We are just starting to make appointments, but it takes a while to get in to see a doctor. Does this sound like possible ALS? Thank you.

It is very early to say as he has not been examined yet. I am glad he is getting seen. The leg swing is often a sign of foot drop as the body naturally compensates to try to keep us safe. Let us know what the doctor says
