Hi all, i require some advice. Apologies for dropping this on Christmas Day.

So i am 29 years old and recently been suffering from fatigue all over, some days better than others.

So this week i have noticed twitching in my right calf muscle, no signs of weakness - able to run up the stairs, hop on that leg and also tip toeing tests completed successfully. One this i noticed a few days ago was that my thigh on the right leg was slightly smaller than the left leg which makes me think the right leg may be suffering from muscle atrophy. As of yesterday i have now experienced cramping in one toe, no other cramping or spasticity .

The twitching in my calf is continuing without pain and only at rest, if i tense the calf muscle the twitching stops.

With it being the holidays i am unable to speak with my doctor. Luckily i have a doctor in the family whom i discussed this with and they too could see the difference in thigh size and said this was not right. The past few days i have no slept properly and i am suffering from fatigue mostly due to worrying, my weight has dropped from 78kg down to 75kg which is further increasing my anxiety.

Further to that, on Friday i did some light exercise on the right left which consisted of lunges and squats and I noticed then i had pain on the outer area of the quad which is still aching today.

As you can imagine, i am unable to see a doctor for a few days due to holidays therefore i cannot see a specialist for a few days.

Any advice would be welcome.

General fatigue, twitching/pain rather than focal weakness is unlikely to mean ALS, esp. at your age. Atrophy (as opposed to normal size differences between two sides, which is all you may be seeing) can be down to many causes, almost all treatable.

Try to enjoy the holiday knowing you have a plan to see your GP and your anxiety will soon be relieved with more information.

Best,
Laurie
