Hello all, I apologize in advance for ranting. I just finished with my first neurologist visit. I have been having problems with my left hand having non stop electrical impulses and when I raise it slightly it tremors. The neurologist ran the typical tests of having me stand and walk, show my tongue and checked my body for other areas. He told me that "I am pretty certain it is not ALS and is actually an ulnar nerve entrapment." I injured my left hand almost 6 years ago and he believes this could have led to it. He will be running nerve conduction test in one week. My worry is that he did show some atrophy in my hand and just atribute it to the damage. I am concered because occording to him I would be having ripples everywhere. From what I read fron people being diagnosed is that it always starts out localized. Him showing me the atrophy made my concern 10 fold.

Well, for one thing, ALS involves the brain NOT sending signals to the muscles. That's why the muscle lies limp, paralyzed.

If a neurologist physically examined you and says it's not ALS, then I'd go with that. Congratulations.

So my visit is tomorrow. Since having the hand problem I have had numbness in my forehead and severe constipation as well as the shaking in hands getting worse. I have looked into it pretty extensively and I am pretty sure tomorrow he will find that I have MSA. This has me beyond petrified. I have literally every symptom for the beginning of the disease.

From ulnar entrapment to a very very rare disease. Wait till tomorrow but your anxiety may be getting the best of you.

He has told me it is just OCD and anxiety. But I dont understand how it can give me literall every symptom without having an actual drop. Im just waiting for the drop

Both of which can be treated. Rejoice and move on! Really!! If any PALS were given that diagnosis we would have been thrilled--trust us--you do not want a rare disease. Get treatment for your anxiety and go and enjoy your long life.

You don't show ANY ALS symptoms, but all your symptoms are classic high anxiety.

I think it's time to believe a specialist who has examined you in person and pursue the help they can give you. All the best and congratulations on having something treatable.
