Hello if anyone can help it would be really greatly appreciate it. Im currently 18 years old and I've been showing als symptoms. I started to notice at the age of 14 maybe 15 that I was weak really weak and now I'm 18 and still very weak I can just lift 80 pounds on the bench press while all my friends can do more than 150 pounds but this is not what scares. what scare's me the most is my shaky hands I have had this since the age of 15 as well where if I hold something like let's say a phone while watching a vedio my hand starts shaking or if I just let's say hold it still on the air it's shaky and I read the muscle weakness and shaky hands is a sign of als they only shake when I hold something or when I put them in the air both hands I read it's because my muscles are so weak that little things that doesn't take much effort for a regular person to do those things for me make my muscles work like crazy so they get tired a lot easier also I vomit sometimes for no reason's all this things I have had since the age 15 I have never told any doctor of my shaky hands becouse I'm scared of what's coming I fell very sad that I won't have a family I was very looking forward to having a wife and kids but now it seems my future is being in a bed while my family cry. I know I'm young but I know that theirs been 16 year old that have als and I'm nothing special if that poor child can get it then so can I and that saddens me. My future is ruined my this horrible disease I don't have anyone to talk to but if anyone answers to this post i would be very thankful for your time. So does this sound like als? Again thank you for answering or for just taking the time to read and God bliss you.

Nothing you post sounds like ALS. I'm happy for you.

Thank you for answering. The reason I'm scared it's because of my shakes when I hold something with my finger's like a phone or maybe a spoon it shajes or if hold my hand straight it also shakes does it really sound like I'm okay?

Yup. Shaking is not a common ALS symptom. Holding things back from your doctor is NOT the way to get answers or help. If you give them a full picture of what is bothering you, they can order the correct tests if needed and refer you to the correct specialists. If you hide something, it may be the one symptom that helps them diagnose you in a timely manner.

Go back to your doctor and give them ALL the issues that are bothering you, no matter how small, and let them help you figure out what is wrong. When you get answers from your doctor, report back here. Until then, there's not much strangers on the internet can do for you.

Good luck with the doctor

Brother, I'll tell you this quite seriously, because I was once a teenager, and I want you to have the best life possible.

There's nothing physically wrong with you. You certainly do not have ALS, nor will you ever have ALS. Looks like your punctuation and spelling could use a little help, but medically, there's not a thing wrong with you. Psychologically, however, you express yourself like you have some anxiety issues. A little bit of therapy might be a good idea. Bring this up to your parents, because it probably will cost more than most 18-year-olds can afford. Good luck to you.

Oooh I'm sorry I will go to the doctor very soon one last thing so what kind of tremors or shakiness does als give you becouse I read that's a big symptom and does my weakness not sound suspecious? Again I'm sorry for wasting your time I'm sure the last thing you want is to talk to a scared teen but until I talk to the doctor in a few weeks I want to get some info so thanks

Thanks Mike I appreciate your answer I will work on my spelling and I'll try to work on my self thank you for answering sir

Sorry to be so blunt, Brother, but since you don't have ALS--no way, no how--it would be best if you didn't bother learning about it. For one thing, I want to spend my time with people who DO have it, rather than educating someone who doesn't need it. The other people on this website are dying, so they kinda take priority. I'm sure you can understand that, of course.

Lucky you!
You now have one less thing to be scared of: ALS!!!

Yes sir I do I honestly mean no harm Mike it's just my shakiness I've had since 15 I never paid much attention to it until recently I have always tried ignored it but i knew someday i would have to deal with it and now it's the time sl now I narrowed down the symptoms and als seemed the closes I mean something causes my shakiness it can't just be nothing and I know it's not anxiety causing it because I've had since 15 maybe even 14 and 13 its just Im barley doing research but I understand your point sir thanks again. I'll pray for everyone. You guys are good people

Greg I wish it was that simple but thanks

PALS do NOT experience shakiness.

Go get help son, there is no chance at all this is ALS, but you can be helped.

Time to leave her however, this is not a good place for you to be.

That's the best answer we can give, you can be helped by being honest to your doctor.

Okay I'm going to go to the doctor soon I'm really thankful that you guys took the time to answer I will go to the doctor with in a month to start the procedures of testing even tho I'm still worried because I just kinda know and feel like I have it but I know you guys have better things to worry about then me I'm thank all of you guys for answering and God bliss you

I am new here Brother, as I have a family member recently diagnosed. So I know very little. These stories and concerns from others are heart wrenching and I have no answers, BUT you, I may help. I'm a mom, of lots of kids. Some old enogh to parent you, some teenagers younger than you, and this is what I would say to them...
A million things could make you shake.. the computer won't turn up the right thing. Forget that jazz...
Even too many monsters or 5 energies or too much coffee, will cause you this shaking. It may be nothing! You could go to the Dr and he will have the answer, and it could just go away, but no Dr can help if you don't talk truthfully with him. Imagine if you have been shaking all this time and worrying and it could have been gone years ago if you just would have said something. Now, go forth, be vigilant and wise about your health and forget that silly computer... Fear is the enemy. It keeps you from getting things done.. so many things are out of your control. This is not one of them. Take charge!
