I am 17 years old and Asian

Is there any atrophy or Fasciculation? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLAknzYDw4s&feature=youtu.be

I really don't know what's happening to me and please check my palm too
Is there any atrophy? Here are the pictures Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet

Please take me seriously

My hands are shaky my whole body is shaky, there are tremors in my whole body

My neurologist noticed a hyperreflexia in my knees

I sometimes stutter at the start of a sentence

I really don't know what to do with my life anymore

My left palm looks bigger than my right palm maybe because of the atrophy?

I really don't know what to do :(

Kumusta!
17 years old? This disease normally strikes people in their 50s and 60s.
The tongue looks fine to me. But I'm not a doctor. What did your neurologist say?
Your hand looks good, too. I don't see why you are worried about it. Perhaps a doctor would notice a difference?

It's kamusta* :p

Yes, I am only 17 years old and a I am really scared. The Neurologist said it's all good and normal but that was when November. Look, the thing is in the Philippines I am really concerned that they don't know anything about ALS. I just don't know what to do with my life anymore with all of those symptoms above.

My hands are shaky my whole body is shaky, there are tremors in my whole body <> More likely to be a diet problem. Maybe an effect from a medication? This does NOT make me think ALS.

My neurologist noticed a hyperreflexia in my knees <> Lots of healthy people have that. Don't worry about it.

My left palm looks bigger than my right palm maybe because of the atrophy <> That's not how ALS works. In ALS, we usually get atrophy after the muscle has been lying limp, useless, paralyzed for many weeks or months.

I sometimes stutter at the start of a sentence <> So does my 20 year old son. I'm not worried about his health at all. He's studying to be an engineer and is an outstanding soccer player.

in the Philippines I am really concerned that they don't know anything about ALS. <> I'm not a doctor, but I know ALS fairly well, and you didn't describe it. If you're still concerned, see a different doctor.

What kind of doctor should I see? The last time I only saw a Pedia-Neurologist do you think she could've missed something? I am really scared going for a check up

Actually, Lucky. It would be best to see a general medical doctor, perhaps there is an Internal Medicine Doctor near you. Let them decide which specialist you need to see, if any. Your problem might not be neurological, so let the Internist decide how to investigate your health problems. That's what they're trained for.

I will try to talk to my parents they aren't taking me seriously because for I have already gone to the doctor for many times. They said I might be wasting their money and time I just don't know what to do anymore

These symptoms are for almost 11 months now

Lucky, if you had ALS for 11 months, you would most likely be severely disabled by now. Talk to your parents.

It sounds like you're not getting reassurance that you need from the doctor(s) you've seen. So it makes sense that your parents doubt that you should go any more. What about just pretending that nothing is wrong for a few months and see if your body can catch up with your mind? It often does. No one here has seen anything that concerns us about ALS, or we would have told you. If you ever have any weakness that other people can see and remark on without your asking, that will be the time to see a doctor, as you would anyway.

We took you seriously as you asked. We considered the evidence. Now it's your turn.

Atsugi is right to call you "Lucky." You're a 17-year old with caring parents and a full life ahead. Don't spend it in your room looking at your tongue or hand. Use the parts that you have, that many people here wish they had control of, for your happiest, most productive life.

Best,
Laurie

You really knocked my head there with the words of yours. I will try my best to not to worry about ALS and thank you for your kind words. I admire you for being brave and battling this disease. Thank you for your kind and touching words.

"I noticed that I've been clearing my throat almost every minute"

So you thought you might be dying? That seems to be a stretch of the imagination, Lucky, don't you think?

I also noticed that my throat has been itchy and it causes me to choke is this a sign of ALS? Please take me seriously :(

Hon, we take you seriously.

My husband DIED of bulbar onset ALS so I know it very well. I work locally with our association running support groups for PALS and I meet a lot of them. Every single PALS who has bulbar (throat and tongue) issues look, sound, and show the exact same things that my husband had. You do NOT.

You DO NOT have a single ALS symptom, not even one.

Your throat problems are nothing like ALS.

Go talk to mum and dad and tell them you have a real problem with your paranoia about this. We cannot help you, but we are serious about that. You have a true medical condition that can be cured if you will be honest. Maybe show them this thread and I will say to them - mum and dad of this child, please get medical help for your child. This is not ALS but is ruining your child's life.

You need to stay away from here now. I cannot explain to you how much time I spend here helping people who truly have this disease. I have given you an answer because I am very concerned for your mental health.

I know you are scared and paranoid, but to be honest, we can't help your condition. We look after only people who have this terminal illness, and I would ask you please to respect this now. Mum and dad as you read this, please be kind to your child and get help.
