Hello all I've been watching the boards for awhile now and finally have the nerve to post. It all started with body wide twitching all over and over the last couple of months it seems like my balance is getting worse everyday like I'm unsteady on my feet. And also I've had trouble breathing that seems to be getting worse I get out of breath talking and when I sing I get really lightheaded. I can't even climb stairs without getting really winded. I've read that shortness of breath and like being conscious of your breathing is a early sign to. I've read the stickies but I'm still concerned I've seen my gp that did a full work up and nothing out the norm I've been to a neurologist had mri of neck and head and had a eeg because I also been having cognitive difficulties and I had a emg on my left calf and thigh that clean and I also had a nerve conductive study which was also good. I also have this constant twitch in my right thenar muscle every time I bend it or tap on it it goes crazy. I've also heard that's a sign to tapping the muscle and it twitches.

Also I'm 28 by the way thank you for your time

Welcome Bwatt

You've sure heard lots of things that are not stated in our stickies. We wrote them and what is said in there is our official position.

You've got lots of stuff that really doesn't sound like early stage ALS at all. You've also been cleared by specialists. If you are not happy with all those results you could ask to be referred to another doctor. If you do, please make it really clear how anxious you are so your doctor is fully aware of all the symptoms you are presenting with.

ALS just doesn't show in any of what you describe, so that's fantastic news :)

You have read the stickies, you have seen your GP and a neuro. You have had imaging, clinical tests, and EEG, EMG, NCV tests. All normal. I don't see how we can make it more plain, You do not have ALS. There may be something going on worth investigating but you don't need to be here.

Thank you guys a lot what really worries me is my breathing I had a lung function test a few moths ago showing I had a great flow rate but it shows restriction but I've also had X-rays ct scans of my lungs to that we're good so that almost rules out anything with my lungs I'm scared my breathing muscles are weak does that not happen sometimes early in the disease. Thanks again a bunch y'all are in my prayers

I do have the classic signs of respitory muscle weakness like not being able to get a deep breath breathing more with the chest muscles fewer words per breath daytime sleepiness and fatigue mental confusion and disorientation. Has anyone here had respitory weakness before everything else went first? Sorry for the questions I'm just so tired of suffering everyday :( My pcp did the lung fiction test back in April and breathing has definitely gone down hill. Also if I try to carry anything besides myself when walking like my tool bag or anything my legs feel like they'll collapse

Bwatt, you've received very good answers from smart people. Not ALS. See your doctor about your other concerns. Closed.
