Hi, I have just joined this support group because I think I have MND.
I have had weakness in my left arm and hand for about 10 months. I went to my doctor in January and he referred me to a specialist. I saw him in February when I had an EMG test which showed that I did have weakness. I was then referred to a neurologist who I finally saw on September 10th by which time the weakness in my hand had got much worse and I was also experiencing weakness in my leg has caused me to trip and fall 3 times.
The neurologist examined me and said I need another EMG and an MRI full body scan. I asked if it could be MND and he said he wanted to rule everything out before making a diagnosis.
He said it will be another 3 or 4 months before I find out but he would mark it as urgent.
I have had a letter today saying my EMG is on October 8th.
I dont know how I will cope with the wait to find out, its so stressful

Not long now till the EMG.
All the best for a positive outcome.
God bless, Janelle x

This is a difficult process. Here's hoping for good news on the EMG. Please keep in mind that nothing can change the reality, and worrying will only rob you of today. Try to remember that. Best of luck!

I know the wait is hard. My husband told me whatever I have its not good. Me being in the medical.field, I encouraged him to see his doctor. How I wish we had waited before we heard the words als. It is life altering. It is not a condition you can change or treat. You treat symptoms. So I say to you, live your life. Do things you normally would. Let this be a blip on the radar. Get life insurance if you don't have it because it never hurts to have it and it is almost impossible if you are diagnosed with als.

Mostly I would take a trip or do something fun! Anything to distract yourself!
