Hi, I'm sorry to ask this. I read that people don't feel the tongue twitches and many didn't know about it until the doctor showed to them. And I also read that it is spread throug the tongue. Is it true? I'm having this muscle spasms in my tongue now. I can feel then and it is only on the left side of the tongue. Other strange thing is that I can trigger them, for example if I stick the tongue out of mouth and put it back it happens or when I touch the top of my mouth with the tongue it happens but when the tongue are at rest it doesn't happen. It is like a kind of reflex so I would like to know how is this for others. Sorry to bother you with this.

Roger I went back and read your history here. It was way back last September that you were cleared of ALS. I've read all your stuff carefully. My husband was bulbar onset so I can tell you that what you are reporting with your tongue is nothing like bulbar symptoms.

Please get your doctor to help you with anxiety returning. Honestly, bulbar onset just can't be missed mate, you would know without a doubt between September and now, or you would more likely be dead by now.

It's really in your best interest to get anxiety help again and stay right away from this site and dr google.

All the best

Thanks for the response. Last year I didn't have anything in the tongue like now and this why I asked again.

Hello, I am not diagnosed with ALS. I am an anxious person worried about ALS, like you.

I have a twitching tongue that I can trigger just like you. I stick it out, and return it to a resting position at the floor of my mouth, and I watch it twitch away for about 5 seconds, like clockwork. I hope that by sharing this with you I have helped to put your mind at a little more ease, knowing that someone else who is not diagnosed with ALS is experiencing the same symptom.

I might also add that thanks to the forum moderator (Nikki), I now know that tongue fasciculations can be, and often are benign. Dr. Turner, a world renowned MND specialist has said so in a response to an anxious person via email in which he clarified his comments about tongue fascics never being benign. That simply is not true.

I hope I've helped. Good luck

Reedy, I can appreciate that you like to help. But as you've no experience with ALS, it might be best if you confine yourself to your own thread. I ask this because it makes it easier for the moderators to ensure everybody gets the best answers, and so non-ALS people don't run around the site--it's meant for ALS people.

Reedy please READ THE STICKY AGAIN

You must not talk on any thread except your own. On you thread you have been advised to leave this site as you have extreme health anxiety. Please follow our advice.

Roger has been answered here also quite comprehensively.
