Hello,

I have had two EMG's and two NC studies by two different neuro's. The first neuro seemed very worried I had ALS. A MRI of the whole spine was done. Nothing. He gave me a bunch of his cards and told me if it was there was no cure for ALS but stopped short of saying I have it. He sent me to the a big city specialist on ALS and she really didn't tell me much. Her assistant sent me through every blood test possible to rule all else out. That was in Oct. 2014. All came back well except a low B12 count. Feet muscles, calves, upper legs and lately twitches in the buttocks. Legs seem very weak, upper torso still stong enough. Tongue is twitching also. Next appointment isn't until April 2015. 10 years prior Army. Waiting!

Hang in there. Our experience is that Docs do not want to jump to the conclusion very fast that someone has ALS. They have to eliminate all other possibilities and always want you to get a second opinion. Make sure you tap into the VA as they have some good support for ALS. Seems to be a high number of our vets coming down with it.
