Hey there,
First of all, sorry of my bad english, because i am italian.
And when 3-4 people say, that i didn´t have Als, or that my symptoms not match to als then its ok, and I don´t ask anymore!
I am 19 years old, and I´m a little bit a Hypochondriac. In my family no one have or had Als or MS odr other kind of big ilness.
Since April i have strange symptoms, first similar to Multiple sclerose, but then the doctors said, that all is fine...
Then since May I have this twitches all around my body. Also on both hands tremble.
I had a big fear, in Oktober i lost this fear for a month, and also the twitches went away. But then the twitches came back in November, especially in the thighs-muscles.
Then i registrated two big dimples on both thighs at the front - inside, near the knee. I didn´t saw them before, i think, I m not sure. I didn´t have weakness anywhere, but sometimes pain in both thighs - muscles. And since a few days I realise that the twitches in the thighs are espacially in this place, where the dimples are!
I didn´t have any other symptoms, ok the transitional difficulties I can also imagine, because my big fear.
I never went to a doctor to check my symptoms, but 3 months bevore a Neurologic doctor said that i am Ok and all is normal, but I didn´t told him of my fear of Als.
Please help me out of this Big Fear, I just need some commends what you think about it.

Person 1 - you don't have ALS.

Ok, but can I have some more informations then "you dont have als".

:)

Hi -- ALS/MND is a scary disease to consider/fear. We empathize. This note is not to deter you from your investigations, but just so thoughts on how we can help each other ...

Here are some first considerations that may help:

#1 - Read the STICKIES at the top of this forum. Many questions are answered there. 99% of new questions are addressed.

#2 We are not doctors or diagnosticians, but people who are dying from or caring for people with ALS. Some of us have to type with one hand, one finger, via dictation, or even with our eyes, so reading/replying to the anxiety-ridden can be very tiring.

#3 if you think you have a motor neuron issue, see your Primary Care Provider and get a referral to a motor neuron qualified neuro, note: most are NOT ALS/MND (Motor Neuron Disease) experienced!

#4 an EMG, properly done, is the gold standard test for ALS. But also, an abnormal EMG can indicate HUNDREDS of other, non-fatal, diseases. So listen to your doctor.

#5 ALS does NOT present with pain, cramps, or fatigue. In ALS, you feel perfectly normal but your muscles simply won't work. Typically, the first sign of ALS is a foot or a hand that inexplicably just won't lift up. It doesn't hurt or feel weak, it just is limp. That is paralysis.

#6 ALS is about failing, not feeling, so forget the "feeling" symptoms

#7 If your main issue is twitching go to the bfs forum. If you have weird neuro symptoms try neurotalk. There are also forums for health anxiety.

#8 Your doctor is wise to look at other diseases. ALS is rare. In order for it to be ALS, it has to be nothing else.

#9 Many of us cough/gag/choke and/or can no longer speak. It is difficult to have anxious people constantly chasing this disease, when we can't escape it. There seems to be this cult of ALS wannabees/groupies. You don't want to fall into that bucket do you?

#10 Anxiety can be a real problem that can endanger your physical health. It is what leads many folks here to this forum -- it is a self-fueling fire. Try to avoid using google and/or this forum if you can -- if you cannot stay away and off this forum it should tell you something important!

Lastly, if you are still interested, go to alsa dot org or mda dot org ...

We sincerely hope you do not need to be here! But find out first. If you do need to be here let me say "Welcome, sorry you are here!"

It Is What It Is ...

.

You have 2 people now.

More information = you don't have ALS symptoms. Honey, go see a doctor, rather than expect people battling a terminal illness to pander to this. Read Max's reply well, you have no idea how much time he spent getting that reply perfect.

Twitches mean nothing neither do dents. Read the sticky too
No ALS
Number 3

:)

Hi - ALS / MND è una malattia spaventosa considerare / paura. Ci siamo sentiti.

Hey Max,
first of all, I can´t say really what big respect I have to you, because my English isn´t enaugh good.
What distinguish me from many other Anxiety of illness people, is that I normally just need some good words and a negation, that my symptoms dont have to do with Als. But I cant´t go to the doctor and say: i have twitches please check me for Als.....
Once again, I have big respect for you all!
How I said, I won´t make more threads from my fear here, and I do not want to burden you.

>because my English isnt enaugh good.

better than my Italian :) ... print out what you have written here, go to your doc and read it the him/her (in Italian :)). trust their answer. btw, the best way to improve your English is to find a live-in English/American girlfriend. That would have helped my German, but my wife wouldn't let me :-( ...

I find your Italian is realy good!
I come from the alps, Im italian, but my mother lenguage is German! also I am not the best in Italian :)
Thanks for the hints! Maybe I go also to an work an travel adventure in an english speak country.
When its not to personal, how are you now?
Wir können uns auch auf Deutsch unterhalten :)
German is very difficult!, from where is your wife ?

If you can read English, read the stickies. There's a lot of valuable information and answers there! You can breathe easy, you don't have ALS. People under age 30 have a 1 in 1,000,000 chance - and the further you are from the 30, yours odds diminish even more. Relax and get treated for your anxiety before it causes you more harm than it already has. Good luck!

ECpara he only needed 3 of us ;)

Now you have 4, it should stop. If you want to know how Max is, then read here.

At 19 honey you should get some help fast for your anxiety and start living! Please stop posting here and get your issues solved, we can't help you as we only have one subject here - ALS which you do not have. If you can't believe that, there are sites for health anxiety.

All the best
