Default Re: Nerve emg anyone>?

If you don't trust your neurologist go get another one and choose one who specialises in ALS.

You aren't showing any symptoms of ALS, so maybe you should work with the medical profession.

Sorry we can't help you, maybe you can find a forum that can support you, this isn't the place.
All the best with your medical issues.

As you wrote...("I don't trust the neurologists I see...")

So, you decided to come to a Forum, where no one has a license to practice medicine, you've been to two highly trained Neurologists and both got very angry when you brought up ALS but here you are... seeking a third opinion. Tell ya what... post the names of the two Neurologists you've been seeing and maybe one of our very knowledgeable but not highly trained nor licensed members can differ with their opinion and get back to you.

PS. There may be a reason they get angry when you bring up ALS. Think about it.

Did you bother to read the stickies for this subforum? Answer is obvious, NO you did not. Just because your friend had twitching long before he had other signs does not mean he had ALS then. Every body has twitches, they don't don't mean diddly squat. Most people just don't pay any attention to them. I don't blame your docs for getting upset with you for self-diagnosing. Everybody knows how to do their job and when somebody that doesn't tries to tell them how to do it, it pi$$es them off. If you showed any symptoms of ALS your docs would have noticed them before you did and ordered more tests. Now go away

ddsky, I realize your symptoms to you are real. I'd say you have been seen by to excellent Neuros, Dr. Blady maybe two clicks above Dr. Frid. Most likely your fear of having ALS can be put to rest if they get angry when you bring up the subject. Follow through with what ever the road to treatment takes you... I'd trust them if I were you.

Dr. Blady is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, American Medical Association, and New Jersey Medical Society. He is a recipient of the Mountainside Family Practice and Internal Medicine Residency Program Teacher of the Year Award. He has been featured in New Jersey Monthly and Castle Connolly "Top Doctor" and "Top Doctors in the New York Metro Area" listings. Dr. Blady's Castle Connolly listings are reprinted in US News and World Report and Inside Jersey.

Dr. Elena Frid is a neurologist in New York, New York and is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including Lenox Hill Hospital and North Shore University Hospital. She received her medical degree from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and has been in practice for 8 years. Dr. Frid accepts several types of health insurance, listed below. She is one of 32 doctors at Lenox Hill Hospital and one of 99 at North Shore University Hospital who specialize in Neurology. She also speaks multiple languages, including Russian.

Wish you well.
