Hi,
I"m a 60 year old male. I"m 6'2 195. For the last few years I developed twitching in my muscles that has continued off and on. I went to a Neurologist had a EMG and he said, I have carpel tunnel on my left side. Last year I woke up one morning with floaters in my left eye, which continue today. In the last 6 months, when I lay down to sleep, I catch myself starting to snore even before falling to sleep. I"m not over weight, and never heard my self snoring while still awake. This started while laying on my left side. and my eye that has floater is on my left side. Now, my voice has gotten weaker. I have to work hard at projecting my voice and it sounds very rough and hoarse. I have had some problems with food getting stuck in the back of my throat. Could this be the start of Bulblar? Thank you for your help!

possible stroke? mini-stroke?

Don't put ALS on the list until you see a specialist neuro.

Good luck!

Needing answers! Thank you!

Hi,
I"m a 60 year old male. Feels like my soft pallet has collapsed when I lay down. This started while laying on my left side. and my eye that has floater is on my left side. Now, my voice has gotten weaker. I have to work hard at projecting my voice and it sounds very rough and hoarse. I have had some problems with food getting stuck in the back of my throat. I also have this weakness feeling in the upper middle of my back. The twitching continues in random places in my body. Could this be the start of Bulblar? Thank you for your help!

If all your neuro said after the EMG was CTS, then clearly he did not see "widespread acute and chronic denervation" which he would have seen if you had ALS. Congratulations, sounds like you don't have ALS.

I have never heard of snoring as an early sign of ALS.

ALS is not about "feeling weak", it is about failing to be able to do normal things.

Floaters can come from many things (not ALS to my knowledge) and some are serious. I would have a doctor check my eyes for any change in vision.

Food getting stuck can come from anxiety, food allergies and many other things. See an ENT.

Twitching comes from many things--anxiety, stress, too much caffeine, fatigue, etc. Most are benign and very common. Twitching as an early sign of a very rare disease is vefry, very, very rare. When you hoofbeats, think horses, not zebras.

I don't think you have to worry about ALS at all but with those symptoms something definitely isn't right an you need to be see your doctor for further testing. Please don't use the computer or us to try to figure it out. You need a professional who will run tests. Good luck to you. Kim

Thanks to everyone! I so appreciate it!
