Default Muscle biopsy

My preliminary muscle biopsy report indicates slight, established reinnervation following previous denervation. Rare, recent denervation not followed by reinnervation and very slight non-reinnervation following previous denervation aka pyknotic nuclear clumps and I am wondering if any of you had results like this an onset as ALS is in my differential. I presented in 2013 and have been undergoing extensive testing since. My neuromuscular specialist says I am a very interesting puzzle. Thanks

This is the one test that I did not have so, unfortunately I can not give you any information. I had many blood test, many MRIs and and EMG. Then I got to join this elite club of persons with ALS.

I did not have a biopsy, but my first EMG showed reinnervation following previous denervation and at that time no active denervation.

My second EMG 3 months later showed active denervation in all muscles tested.

Try to contact a guy on here by the name of Wright. Now he's an EMG expert, but he may well know about biopsy results too.

Muscle bx can be equivocal for many reasons and in themselves can't confirm or disprove ALS. The clumps can be associated w/ MG, myotonic dystrophy, etc. as well as ALS. I assume MG has been ruled out by now. The Washington U neuromuscular site has some good summaries that might help you and help you match up your most prominent symptoms.
