Hey there, I'm a 25 year old girl. It looks like my granny had ALS back then and I show some unnormalities. I also asked in other forums and groups but some things seem not to be the normal ALS onset so I wanna know if maybe anyone else had the same symptoms. Well my journey started 2 yrs ago after a herpes infection, I was pretty unfit and in the last too yrs I showed every now and then nervepain in my left arm just for 1-2 days. After that I had a lot of problems with my stomach.

Well last year November I had pretty much the feeling my neck was very hard plus I had the feeling their is pressure behind my eyes. Went to the hospital and they said my eyes are totally fine and the blood too expect of my heartmuscle enzym it was slightly higher.( got a tooth out that day)

The real problems started short after Christmas, I had pain in both upper arms, a friend tried to crank my spine in, first felt pretty good but one day later I had like twiching everywhere, burning down both arms and so on. The next day I had the feelings their was a knife in my spine... But the symptoms last.

I want to the hospital again, they made eeg, MRI from my brain, reflexes with the hammer, evoked potentials ( visual, audio and somatic) and told me it wont be ALS.

At the moment I still can do a lot of stuff like gymnastic stuff but I recognized sometimes the muscles feel ok after doing a lot and sometimes I have days in which they feel weak after not even doing a bit. Today I feel like getting a cold, little bit pressure when I breath. Plus because of the symmetrical atrophies I have ulinaris nerve pain.

Last blood test my neutrophiles were slightly over normal.

The questions I have is. Did anyone experienced such a symmetrical onset?! It's like I lost on my whole body somewhat muscles?
Can it be normal that u have better and worse days for example walking?!

Doesn't sound like anything I've ever heard of.

That's what I use to hear all the time ;-) but the muscle loss and twiching makes me scared. Don't know if it's a good or a bad sign.

Doesn't sound anything like ALS.

You never rid your body of the herpes virus. I would suggest you get a doctor you trust, stop saying you think you have ALS and let them work with you for what is wrong.

All the best

I am not a doctor, but maybe you should ask for an EMG/NCV to rule out nerve compression? You say yourself you have ulnar pain.

Also, your friend "cranking your spine" could maybe have caused issues with your back related to walking. I do not understand exactly what your friend did, but if it is the regular chiropractor spine stretch that is definately not something you should do at home even though it is fairly easy to perform.

I just posted a few moments ago (Clean EMG Too Early). My burning arms and nerve issues started with an outbreak of herpes cold sores all over my mouth and down my throat. I am just getting over them. I am experiencing twitching in the arms and all over and I do believe herpes lives in the nerves. I have not discounted it a source of my symptoms. I am just hoping it goes away. I know viral is tough to get over.

Hello.

You and me got exactly same history. Just that i right now have sore muscles all over my body, and i got constant fibrillations and "bubbling" in calves.

I am like you. OFC we are worried about ALS, as we "THINK" and "IMAGINES" that we are in early stage ALS. But just drop it! If you feel like your muscles are sore, you got no Power... its Nothing what a person with ALS feel. Bodywide twitches and faciculations is not main concern.

Go further with this.

Christopher,

I am new to this site. My mom passed away from ALS recently and I took care of her during her journey with ALS. I too have concerning Symptoms but I am getting the necessary testing done after being referred to an ALS Specialist by my Neurosurgeon. I just had to write and ask you to please calm down! I have read so many of your posts and you are doing nothing but stressing yourself and me (other people too I'm sure) out. This forum is not for diagnosing but supporting each other with real life diagnoses from a doctor. Please get out and do something productive with yourself until you find out what's going on with you.
