Hello again,
I had previously booked an neurologist appointment which was cancelled by the neurologist, and I now can't get a spot for 5 months apparently they're really busy.
I have gone back and seen my Dr who has now mentioned wanting to rule out Als as atrophy has been added to the list and the fact that I'm using my non-dominate hand for quite alot now. But he doesn't do the nerve tests, does anyone know of any drs that do the nerve tests besides neurologists?

have you tried to get a appointment with a different neuro? I think they are the only ones who can interpret the tests.

I've tried a couple but they all seem to be booked for months at a time and one for like a year. I may have to go way out of the area.

Can your doctor help? If ALS is a real concern 5 months is way too long! Sometimes if the doctor calls the specialist they will squeeze you in
Good luck
Nikki

is this another example of great goverment health care. this is much worse than getting an appointment with va

I'm pretty sure I have it now, I have weakness on my whole ride side after just having weakness in my right hand. I'm getting what I believe is those fasciculations all over, I woke up today and the right side of my throat the muscles Don't seem to be working when I swallow. I use my left hand instead of my right now. I'm getting atrophy through my right side and it keeps progressing and I can't get in to see a neurologist.

Go back to your primary care doctor. If things are that bad he should help you get an appointment sooner

As I mentioned on your other thread, the symptoms you described there, do not sound like ALS to me.

I'm no doctor but I have never heard of atrophy occurring on the entire right side of a person as quickly as you describe (unless they're in a cast or on complete bed rest). ALS generally begins in one limb - not the entire side. Twitching in my case, is still, even now, largely limited to the affected area. And it only began in ernest several months well after the weakness was noted.

Perhaps your GP will do for you what mine did to speed up the process ( though since you're only in your twenties, it may not work). She referred me to neuro for evaluation with notation " re: possible stroke". I was seen two days later.
