Default Fresh Start ...Hopefully

I would like to begin by offering my sincere apologies to everyone on this forum, especially Sadiemae, Ottawagirl, Cgars, and Wright. I began by posting as Healthy1 and then as Rocks in efforts to get as much of your perspective as possible in order to help alleviate my fear and panic about als. Panic and fear can lead to irrational actions and I apologize for the trouble that I have caused. This has really taken a grip on me and today I took your advice and sought support to help with this tremendous health anxiety that I am experienciing. I met with an intake nurse today and have an appt with a psychiatrist on July 31.

You know my story...3 Gps, 2 neuros, one clean emg following tingling and loss of dexterity in hands. All say that I don't have ALS. The emg was one week ago. It was only on two limbs and no bulbar test.

Since that time, I seem to have noticed atrophy across my whole body (chest, legs, shoulders, neck) and have become hoarse with less tongue mobility. I don't have another appt for months and hoped to gather your perspective from your knowledge and expereinces. I beleive that I see
new things each day. Can anxiety really cause this? Or does ALS move this fast?

Again, I am sorry for all of the trouble. I am working really hard on the anxiety and took your advice about professional help. I also need support in the area of physical symptoms as well and value your perspective while I wait for my next follow up. Each of you have told me that with a clean emg and 2 neuros saying I'm fine, I should try to move on. Your thoughts and perspective and PATIENCE are truly appreciated.

With the greatest of sincerity,

I understand your fear Healthy1. I know about the anxiety also, but you still cannot get it off your mind, when symptoms persist.
Any chances of seeing an ALS specialist. I had thought I wouldn't but my neuro said he WOULD refer me if I wanted him to. I waited
a month and decided to. The referral process took two more months (I believe). Appointment is later on in July! Best to you in your concerns and fears!

You are not sorry at all. In fact, you delight in this sadistic play. It makes you feel alive and part of something.

You think you have atrophy? What you have is a complete lack of empathy for the people on this forum. Most probably you have no friends in your real life. Wonder why? Because you are narcissistic and deeply troubled. You are friendless because you think you are smarter than everyone else. You are friendless because you presume you can fool all of the people all of the time.

Get off this forum - and find yourself a life - a real life. Say a prayer everyday that you will become a good person. Do some volunteer work.

And - for the record - I do not believe that you have a psych consult for July 31 - the wait lists are long and your type of anxiety gets to the bottom of the wait list. I know this because I worked in the field.

Hi OttawaGirl,

I am sorry that you cannot understand my situation and accept that I have taken responsiibilty for making poor choices on this forum. Again, I do apologize to you!

My GP put in a referral to the Prompt Care Clinic at Ontario Shores Mental Health Clinic. This is in the Whitby area. After my intake today with an RN, I will be seeing Dr. Hudson on the 31st and I look forward to the opportunity. Either my GP reailzed the urgency of this situation and put a rush on this or I got lucky... I am not sure, but feel fortunate to have the support.
All the very best to you, Ottawagirl.

Healthy one, fear and panic attacks can cause terrible emotional stress and I believe physical symptoms too.

Let us know how your appointment goes with the shrink. Maybe you can get some help with moving on

You haven't taken responsibility for your actions. You have lied, been caught and are now telling more lies. Ottowa girl understands your situation very well indeed; it is quite extraordinary that you can be so wholly selfish that you will have yet another go at tormenting people who are genuinely ill.

And since you refuse to accept Wright's expert opinion you are not going to be accepting a psychiatrist's expert opinion either so that you are simply wasting everyone's time...

I have some familiarity with Ontario Shores and it sounds like you have taken a very important step in seeking help for what may be your most significant health concern: anxiety and, in this case, anxiety surrounding your physical concerns. I suspect that continuing to read and post on this forum will exacerbate your anxiety as everyone here is living with or supporting loved ones who are diagnosed and living with ALS and you may think that what you are reading gives you a rational reason to fear that you have ALS. Yo

Oops. I hit "reply" by mistake. Depending on your age, you might find better support by calling the KidsHelpPhone.ca. While they do not provide ongoing counselling, their trained counsellors will be able to help you manage your anxiety while waiting to see the psychiatrist.

That's great advice but Rocks/Healthy1 apparently doesn't have a life, and unfortunately s/he can't apply to kidshelpphone.ca because s/he is 39 or 41 depending on which lying post you read.

And then there's a strangely similar story from someone calling themselves Muscleloss on the General discussions part of the site claiming to be a 27 year old male who declined to respond to my suggestion that s/he read the reassurances, including one from Wright, on the first Healthy1 thread.

Muscleloss has had all the tests, and they are all negative, but Muscleloss is still claiming that it must be ALS and apparently proposes to leave the country in his/her wheelchair and inject him/herself with steroids. Quite why s/he has to leave the country to do this is unexplained, just as why s/he thinks injecting steroids is going to help the ALS/MND s/he claims to have is also a mystery...

Oh - and let's not forget he/she with twitches in middle finger and who lives in ass Village... methinks these are all related. Sad isn't it? As scared as I am of this horrible disease - I really and truly feel luckier than these lost souls who have nothing better to do but prey on this site. Such wasted moments in this finite experience we call life.

Ok, time to stop responding to the folks who don't listen... IF you feel they're trolls, DON'T respond, just report! In the off chance that this person is SINCERE, please stop bashing them! Take it to the PM that's what it's for.

As Al used to say "play nice or get out of the sandbox"... For those of you who didn't know Al, he spent a great deal of his life moderating these conversations, and out of respect for him, and all the others who have worked so hard to make this a safe place for us all... let's be respectful to each other. Even if we THINK they're nuts, they're obviously here for a reason, maybe not the right disease, but something is wrong. Let's have some compassion people.
