Unexplained symptoms

I have been having some issues also that I would like to ask about. My left leg sometimes feels awkward when I am running. I cant explain the awkwardness in my foot it just feels clumsy. I went to my GP for this kind of thing awhile back probably a couple of years ago and he gave me the all clear. I can walk and run it just feels different. I ahve read that symptoms sometimes begin as awkward but I am not sure of what that means. Does it mean you can't run or does it just feel different? I ran 5 miles yesterday but I just cant shake this feeling.

Re: 2 years of symptoms and still scared

Samson77, Go back and read the stickies at the top of the "Do I Have ALS, Is This ALS threads.

Re: 2 years of symptoms and still scared

I have read the stickies, just looking for some support. thanks.

Re: 2 years of symptoms and still scared

Your awkwardness isn't in your leg -- it's in your head, specifically those rocks that you call your brain. Anyone who can run five miles and then come whining for "support" from a group of people who are paralyzed and mostly wheelchair-bound is a selfish and crazy jack*ss. You don't need support -- you need a boot in the butt.

Be glad you can still run. Most of us would be ecstatic if we could stand up, much less walk or run. Take off your diapers and join the adult world.

If you want to continue this discussion, start your own topic, instead of hijacking someone else's thread.

Re: 2 years of symptoms and still scared

I apologize for hijacking someones thread wasnt sure how to start my own.

Re: 2 years of symptoms and still scared

I just have to say I enjoy the way trfogery helps some people “shake the feeling”.

Re: 2 years of symptoms and still scared

See, now this bothers me. They read the sticky's but not the FAQ. If they did they'd know how to respond or start a thread. All sorts of good stuff there. There's my rant for today.

AL.

Re: 2 years of symptoms and still scared

I dream of running!

Re: 2 years of symptoms and still scared

sorry horevo for hijacking your thread. I have had unexpained symtoms as well and was just looking for some answers. I didnt mean any wrong doing. My leg has felt awkward over the past couple of years and I was just trying to sort things out. I admit I used the internet a bit too much and got myself into diagnosing things, which is stupid. I am just trying to get rid of always thinking about how I am feeling. Vicious cycle. Thanks for everyones support.

Re: 2 years of symptoms and still scared

Hi Samson,
It's ok, no worries. I understand how you are feeling. I too have felt horrible for a long time and I get how hard it can be. All I can tell you is go to your doctor, get checked out, and follow through. You know your body better than anyone else does and if you feel something is wrong then persue it, I did. Hopefully you will get some answers. I will give you the same advice everyone on this wonderful board gave me when I first joined and when I came back. Don't dwell on ALS, it will only make you feel worse. If something is wrong it is up to the doctors to figure it out... that's what they are there for. Demand that you get the best care you can and seek out various specialists... that's how you get answers. Also, I suggest trying an anxiety medication. It's not going to necessarily make your symptoms go away.... though it might... but it well help you think more logicially and not freak out about them as much. That's what it did for me. I still persued my health issues, I am still working on getting better, and I still have many fears as to what is going on with me and my body, but I am not freaking out about it. If I didn't persue my health concerns, I wouldn't have found the cancer or the MG, but I did and I'm grateful for that...... so I won't tell you not to look into your issues. Trust that when someone who lives with ALS daily tells you that it doesn't sound like you have it, you probably don't. There is no 100% in life and I know that is what you are looking for, but nobody, not even a doctor can tell you 100% anything. How can I tell you 100% that later today you won't walk in front of a bus by accident.... I can't.... just like anything else. Persue your health, but RELAX and take it one day at a time.... hope that helped.... Now give me my thread back...LOL..

Re: 2 years of symptoms and still scared

I understand and thanks. I was at my GP for months and he would give neurological exams weekly to help calm my nerves. He never found anything wrong and never even referred me to a neuro. He felt there were no findings so no need to send me anywhere else. It is just strange how anxiety can wreak havoc on your physical state.

Unexplained symptoms

Hi Wright. I have noticed that you are a voice of reason here on this website. I have had some unexplained symptoms for awhile now. My left leg feels "not right" when I run. I have had some issues with swallowing, in terms of food feeling as though it is stuck in my throat. I can wash it down with liquid but it is still noticeable. Sometimes my leg feels wobbly when I am running or walking for that matter. I have gone to my GP to get looked at and he says that I am ok neurologically. Does any of this sound like anything to you. Possibly you can provide some insight? Thanks for your help.

Re: Do I have ALS? Please help me. I am desperate.

samson, forgive me if i am wrong but didn't you hijack a few other people's threads and then apologize and say that you were not going to do it again?

Re: Do I have ALS? Please help me. I am desperate.

Samson this is about the third different thread you have posted about your symptoms, but none of the threads are one's you have started. You really should start your own thread and list out all of your symptoms and ask for help in your own thread under "Do I have ALS"

Anyway you forgot to tell Wright that you have no problem running besides an akward feeling in your leg and that you went to your GP and they told you that you were fine. Nothing you said in your previous posts sounds like ALS,

I have been having strange symptoms over the past 2 to 3 years. I am now experiencing awkwardness with my left leg, not sure how to describe it, just feels awkward when i run and walk. It almost feels as though my shoe does not fit my foot properly. I am not limping and I can still run it just feels different. I sometimees feel off balance. I went to my GP where he evaluated me and told me that I was fine. I have had some swallowing issues as of late, it feels as though food is caught in the back of my throat when I swallow. Does this sound like anything to be concerned about? My hands sometimes feel uncoordinated.
