Does anyone know if the results of an EMG can be considered a conclusive diagnosis of ALS without any other tests if symptoms of weakness and atrophy are present?

Why do you ask? Have you had an EMG? The answer to your question in my unproffessional opinion is no. Typically the Dr's at a minimum want to do spine and brain MRI's and perhaps an MRA. They often will do blood tests as well to rule out other diseases and conditions and depending on how fast or slow your symptoms come on they may do a spinal tap and / or muscle biopsy to see if you have some type of weird infection impacting you.

ALS is a diagnosis of exclusion meaning that have to rule everything else out while meeting strict criteria at the same time.

Hope this helps

An EMG is only one of the diagnostic tools used to determine whether an ALS diagnosis is appropriate. By itself, all it can do is point toward or point away from certain processes being present in the areas of the body that are tested.

Now, rather than asking leading questions and trying to force answers a certain direction, why don't you give us some more details and engage in a real discussion?
