Hello,
I am having an EMG done next week and wanted to confirm that it is possible for denervation to show on the test BEFORE clinical weakness in an exam? I believe I have read this, but thought to ask.
Thank you,

Yes--the things that show up on EMG show up before things are even noticed by the patient.

hi :) . . . It was as explained to me that the denervation process would be doing its sneaky work before clinical weakness is apparent . Hence it such a useful test . At mine they picked up lots of fasciculations in pretty much every limb and tongue but was then informed that there was nothing that pointed towards denerveation or anything sinister . Its a fairly painless test and and normally the specialist /neuro will talk you through it .usually they give you the outcome there and then . Not too familiar with your story but will be wishing luck from england :) god bless . . Alex

Yes my emg showed problems in my leg although I don't have weakness there yet.

Same with my husband. Showed weakness in his leg, although he hasn't felt it yet. some generalized fatigue, but not weakness or loss of dexterity like in his hand, which is where this thing first presented.
