Bombed 2/3 EMG tests

Hi , I'm new and today the neuro said I have possible als because i bombed 2/3 emg tests. I had twitches way before I had any weaknesss, which I only have in my tongue. I'm scared and confused. He's sending me for a second opinion.

susanf--go to the ALS clinic in Tampa for your second opinion. Dr. Katzin or Dr. Vu. Dr. Katzin is my doctor--and she's just great. Wonderful bedside manner--and very thorough. She's a specialist in ALS.

Hi and Thank you, Thank you! I'm setting up and appointment this week with Dr. Kazan at USF (my Alma Mater). When I went to the Neuro the first thing he said within a minute of walking in to the room is if ALS ran in my family. This was before his exam. I told him my Mom had Myathevia Gravis. He did the bloodtest but he said it probably wasn't it. He didn't have the bloodtest in yet. He never even looked at me. It was so matter of fact and cold. Maybe I'm just over sensitive.

You'll like her. She's great--and I hate most doctors, LOL

I do know she prefers to do her own EMG/NCV studies--so don't be surprised if she wants to repeat them. She'll likely start with some blood work, and an MRI--and, of course, a really thorough physical exam.

Best of luck with her--and a diagnosis OTHER than ALS
