Hello everyone. I noticed more muscle loss in my hands and butt area so i went back to my doctor and he said there was muscle loss but i just needed to wait until i saw a neurologist "we don't even have in appointment yet" so I am posting my pics in hopes of some feed back.

These are from my camera pone so not the best quality.

Thank you

my pinky finger joint looks like there is a indent

You do indeed have atrophy, but there is not much we can say, except you need to see a neurologist. You already know that, so sorry, a useless comment.
Why are you having to wait so long for a referral?

Sorry for bothering you :-(

First picture -- if you are referring to the indentation on the outside of the hand, at the knuckle that connects the pinky to the back of your hand, that looks normal to me. The main belly of the muscle that runs up the side of your hand is closer to the wrist and would be a more obvious place to see atrophy.

Second picture -- not enough arm in the picture to get properly oriented and know what I'm looking at, so no real opinion.

Third picture -- similar to second picture -- not enough visible to get oriented properly, so no opinion.

Summary comments -- I don't see in these pictures what you are talking about and it is not necessary for me or anyone else on this board to see it. We can't diagnose you. Instead of posting pictures of various parts of your anatomy on an Internet forum, you should be putting more pressure on your GP to refer you to a specialist that can tell you what's wrong with you. That may or may not be a neurologist, so get the referral and be patient until the specialist figures out what's wrong with you.

Good luck.

I wasn't meaning that your post was useless. I was meaning MY comment was useless :)
So why the delay in the referral......oh I see you are from Canada. Our health system is similar to yours and a non urgent referral would take several months. Sometimes a public health system is great, but if things are not deemed urgent, then the wait can be horrendous (that's why I have private medical insurance)

A MILLION THINGS CAN CAUSE ATROPHY, ALS BEING THE LEAST LIKELY OF THOSE THINGS.
Statistics are fortunately in your favor.
Don't worry until your doctor says there's something to worry about. Until then, enjoy life! Even after a devastating diagnosis, enjoy life!
We can't aid you in diagnosis, we are simply here for support. Hopefully you can gain control of your anxiety for the time being. Examining your body for dents WILL NOT HELP, your mind is a very powerful thing. It will, and often does, aggravate "symptoms" that you don't even have.

Also, this inflammation you have associated with said "Atrophy" points away from ALS. This means there is something irritating your muscles, not ceasing them from functioning. Autoimmune should be considered.

I have the same indent you show on the pinki finger on the left hand and the main belly of the muscle that runs up the side of my hand is the half size then the right one, I did not have this before. I have weakness in my left hand and arm,can not hold my 2 year old standing on my left side and I have twiches in most part of my body, even tounge. Bin to 4 diffrent neuro and did 4 emg´s in the last 8 mounts, all off them normal, they even stuck the needle in the atrophed muscles and it was normal. I asked the doctor if he could tell me that I do not have MND, he said that he could not, because he said that it can take time for nerve and muscle damage to show up on an EMG. He said that it is a good sign that it is clean, but even better if it will be clean in another 6 mounths. The EMG was done on all 4 limbs and tounge. Nothing to do but wait, wait , wait and pray.

The neuro exam showed brisk reflexess on all limbs, the doc said that it can be normal, normaly they are looking for brisk reflexess in one leg or an arm. or that is what he said.

I'm with Alastor M - the odds are on your side. Can't say ou're not up sh*t creek, but please spend less time taking photos of yor butt and more time smelling the roses and I'm sure life will be happier for you - Kitchener
