Hello I´m new here. Bin having muscle twiches for 3 months and and weekness in left leg and arm. Also bin having nasal speech and absent of gag-reflex. Went to the neuro friday,he did an single fibre EMG on some muscles and said that I have fillbriation positives and some denivation, but no spontainos activitis with the muscles at rest,so I it can not be Als,something about me spine. Does that not sound strainge, I´ve read that having fillbriaton possitive is not normall. Please give me a feedback. Thanks

Hi Island. It sounds like your neurologist is testing you for possible Myasthenia Gravis. Let us know what you find out please.
Laurel

My husband had the single fiber emg & the neuro was testing for MG.

He just send me to make an MRI and said that this was some presssure on the spine. Did not send me to do any blood test or nothing else. I have a bad feeling about this. I´m getting weaker every week. Maybe I have to find a doctor specialises in neuroligal diseases. I do´nt live in my country so this is diffucult. But will let know what I find out.

Hi Island. Definitely you need a doctor who specializes in neuromuscular diseases and you should get EMG, nerve conduction tests. lumbar puncture, bloodwork for autoimmune diseases etc. Best of luck to you. Are you in Portugal?

Don't get stressed about ALS. It could be many many things. You just need to try and stay calm while you go through the process of diagnosed. Its hard to be patient as answers are never found quickly. Its a string of waiting for appts then follow ups.

I thought you had said that a neurologist did your EMG, so I am a little confused as he is a neurological disease specialist? Sounds like they have things in hand if you are now having an MRI. It could well be a spinal, thing but you will have to wait. I well remember waiting and waiting.

Best of luck, will be thinking of you.

He is an neuroligist and licensed to do EMG,he said to me that this test is called EMG, he did an nerve conduction tests, but only on my right hand. It is the left sight of my body that is affecting me the most. I have no pain just weekeness and fatigue and a lot of twitcing. I live in Portugal but I´m from Iceland.

Well you definitely saw the right kind of doctor then, so thats good. Its good you are having the MRI like I said. I really hope they help you get down to the bottom of what is causing it all. Not sure why they did the unaffected side. wait till the MRI then you can have another chance to talk to him, and you could maybe ask for an explaination. We will be thinking of you.
Let us know how you get on?
good luck Aly
