Does anyone have personal experience of knowing someone with atrophy, foot drop, severe weakness and denervations on an EMG that was not ever diagnosed with ALS?Or that was diagnosed with ALS?

Charlotte,

Yes.

Do a search for the posts by Tag0620, and read what they went through!

Also, although several other members are a lot more knowledgeable in understanding EMG reports, and will be able to answer your question more fully; one of the important things in a problematic EMGs is when it shows ongoing denervation and reinnervation. That is more important, as far as pointing to ALS, than denervation. A person with motor neuron dysfunction will show chronic as well as active.

Thank you Rose, for your response. Can you explain what is said of ALS being a regional disease means?Does it mean, like I think it means, that one region is affected and chronically denervated, then the disease moves to another region, and on?Is it in any order?Does anyone know? All input on my first question is appreciated.
