My husband is currently experiencing many symptoms of ALS and has gone through a battery of tests, exams, etc. We still do not have a firm diagnosis. His doctors are hopefully that he has multi-focal motor neuropathy and not ALS. He went through IVIG treatments two weeks ago, but so far we have seen no positive results.
6 months ago his muscle began fasiculating. It started in his right bicep, over 5 weeks spread through both arms, across his chest and back. Now, it's in his hands, stomach, and legs and his strength is greatly dimenished. Other similar symptoms, but these are the prominent ones.
I would be interested in hearing about how the disease started in people with confirmed diagnoses, what was the first signs, how quickly things progressed, etc.
Any information would be appreciated. We are not trying to self-diagnosed, he has a very good doctor at Vanderbilt Medical Ctr. We are just trying to find out what we can while we wait for appointments, more tests, etc.

You will get a better response from the PALS on this board if you ask specific questions. Most of us are not able to type very well any more, so long, unfocused posts are out of the question. There are many posts on this forum that describe the early onset and progression of ALS, if you can find the motivation to use the search function. There is also a good deal of basic information of the type you describe available at many other websites.

Good luck to you.
