i'm a 23 year old female. I have fasciculations since 3 months. 3 weeks ago i noticed a dent in my claf which is atrophy. last week i went for an emg and it came back normal. the neuro stuck the needle in the calf with the dent but not into the dent. if this dent was due to als would the whole muscle show abnormalities or must the needle be inserted in the dent to show something?

sorry for my english

from everything Ive read and heard on this forum, you would have noticeable weakness before atrophy, so the dent is probably not real atrophy.

If you had a normal EMG, then you do not have ALS. Congratulations and best of luck to you in finding out what your problem is.

Having a dent does not necessarily mean atrophy. Your doctor can help explain the difference. Congratulations on a normal EMG!
