Hi all,
I've been visiting this site for a week now. Like most people on here I was having symptoms, googled them and hey presto I've got ALS/MND!
I'm off to a consultant neurologist tonight to discuss my symptoms. I can't believe how quickly and painfully these symptoms have shown.
This time last weeki was completing an 8 mile speed march. The next day didn't feel too well, but went out and did a 5 miler to see if I could get over it. It made me feel lousy in the head (sort of semi-detached), but at my youth teams soccer practice I just felt terrible. By Saturday morning I had visible twitching in both calfs (never seen them before), by Saturday I was in pain with white hot calf muscles and what felt like pins and needles.
By sunday I could feel weakness and tingling in my quads. I got to see the Doc on monday and thanks to private med an appointment with the consultant tonight. I can't believe how my legs feel, sore, painful (no cramping yet) with what feel like stabbing pains in my calfs. All this in one week!
Like most on here I've had some sleepless nights about what it means but I know thanks to this wonderful site that I'm not alone.
Thing is tonight is the start of my journey, I hope I've got the strength of mind to carry whatever I have with dignity.
To all those who have posted their experiences, thank you so much. It's good tonight you're not alone ;-)
