all blood things have been checked, also vitamin D
Do you think it's necesarry for a new emg? First one has been done in my 1st month of twitching?
You think I can't trust the neuro's opinion after 14 months?

I am not a doctor, so I cannot say whether an EMG is necessary or not. I was just trying to say that perhaps a second EMG conducted by a neurologist specializing in neuromuscular disease would help to give you some peace of mind, if it is normal. was the previous EMG conducted by a neurologist, and was that person a specialist in neuromuscular disease?

If you are not experiencing weakness after more than 14 months of twitching, I think that is a very good sign. there is a benign condition (BFS or BFCS) that is apparently quite common that can cause twitching and even muscle cramping, but it is not associated with weakness. there are forums devoted to this very condition-- if you poke around, you can find them.

Alexandre,

Stop twisting what people here are saying to you. The only opinion you should be listening to at this point is the opinion of your neurologist, who has examined you and has all the relevant information and professional skills to form a qualified opinion. If you don't trust your doctor's judgment, you should be seeking a new doctor, not badgering a group of strangers on the Internet.

You are not going to get a diagnosis here. Very few people here have any kind of medical training and those who do would not attempt to diagnose you through the forum. The amount of time and energy you spend going through posts here would certainly be better spent doing something else.

A clean clinical and a clean EMG.. mean NO ALS... You do not have a clean emg and clean clinical and ever have ALS.. Stop worrying about this, celebrate..

Yeah, I would be happy with the clean clinical test. BFS is a common disorder and people with this disorder twitches in all sorts of places. Stress and anxiety just make the symptoms worser. Congrats on getting the all clear on ALS.

I should know better but I'm going to go ahead and put my cent and a half in.

You clearly do not have ALS, per the neurologist that examined you.

You need not worry any further unless or until:

1. you find that getting out of bed in the morning becomes a 5 minute ordeal because the majority of your muscles are as stiff as a 3 day old dead dog frozen in an arctic ice glacier

2. you go to climb a set of stairs and it feels like your legs are encased in concrete

3. you find it harder to speak because your tongue feels like its encased in concrete

4. you find you can no longer open a jar of olives

5. or one of your feet no longer cooperates when you walk (drop foot)

If you would like practical advise on how to practice for an EMG/NCV test, I can advise!

I would say you don't need another EMG, but since it's been over 1 year, and it probably would make you feel better, it probably wouldn't hurt. Just make sure that the Dr. performing this test is a specialist in EMG. From what I have seen, EMG is an accurate test, but you need a qualified Dr performing the test for this accuracy.

And yes, their are some people who have been twitching for many many years prior to being diagnosed with ALS, and that is why they are here, because they were diagnosed. For every one of those people, their are probably thousands that the twitching remained benign, or disappeared later on, and they never even visited this website.
