My honey decided it was time to go on hospice care last week, All was going well, a few new meds to help with the respiratory distress and a nurse a phone call away! Very nice until Sunday morning, I realized his lips had swollen over night till they looked like Mik Jaggars' lips, One of his new meds was morphine drops. Apparently he is allergic to Morphine. Now we need to find a medicine to help him through this difficult time. He is barely sleeping and very uncomfortable. Any Ideas would be appreciated. He uses his Trilogy machine still as well as the Cough Assist, Ventolin inhaler 2x per day as well as a nebulizer to thin secretions. thanks in advance Janet
 
There are other drugs for those allergic to morphine. Definitely ask doctor, though.
 
Yes, lots of synthetic opioids are available. Also Benzodiazepines such as Lorazepam and Diazapam (Valium) can ease the anxiety.
